𝐈𝐬𝐫𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐌𝐎𝐃 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐫𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐅𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐠𝐧 The Israel Missile Defense Organization (IMDO) within the DDR&D of the Israeli Ministry of Defense has announced the successful completion of a series of interception tests for the Iron Dome defense system. These tests addressed a variety of advanced threats and scenarios. The 𝐌𝐌𝐑 radar was responsible for detection and tracking, which was the main enabler of the successful interceptions by the Iron Dome during the DDR&D interception tests. Leveraging operational insights from the ongoing conflict, the test series simulated current and future threats, including rockets, cruise missiles, and UAVs. The campaign also integrated additional elements to enhance the robustness of the multi-layered defense array. Since becoming operational in 2011, the Iron Dome defense system has been a crucial component of Israel's Air and Missile Defense Array. During the current conflict, the system has been heavily utilized, intercepting thousands of rockets, UAVs, cruise missiles, and UAS threats, thereby providing critical protection for civilian populations and strategic infrastructure. The new capabilities demonstrated in these tests mark a significant improvement in the system's performance and its ability to counter evolving regional threats. The Iron Dome is part of Israel's national Air and Missile Defense Array, which also includes the IAI's Arrow and David's Sling weapon systems. All of these systems incorporate radars from IAI ELTA Systems Ltd such as 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐞 (Arrow) and 𝐌𝐌𝐑 (Iron Dome & David Sling). The Illusion of Intelligence – A Growing Cybersecurity Concern We ask Alexa to play our favorite song. We enjoy conversations with ChatGPT. Some even name their robot vacuum (My mother calls hers Claude. He’s punctual, quiet, and never talks back.) AI systems have become familiar, even likable. They’re polite, efficient, and helpful—qualities we often associate with trust. But in cybersecurity, familiarity can be deceiving. These systems may appear friendly, but they are ultimately tools—amoral, programmable, and susceptible to manipulation. Behind their “personality” lies an algorithm, and behind that? Sometimes, a malicious actor. As we move deeper into an era of AI-driven IoT, we’re handing over decision-making to networks of machines that communicate and act with minimal human oversight. And while the efficiencies are real, so are the risks. On March 25th at CyberTech, I’ll be speaking about “Securing the Unseen: Cyber Resilience in the Age of AI-Driven IoT.” One of the key messages: AI is not inherently good or bad—but our increasing dependence on it without built-in accountability is where danger begins.
