Integration of Skilling with General Education under NEP 2020 One of the key mandate of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is the seamless integration of skilling with general education. In alignment with this vision, the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) is committed to implementing the mandates of NEP and the National Credit Framework. To support this initiative, NCVET has taken a significant step by recognizing Institutes of National Importance (INIs) such as IITs, NITs, IIMs, and Central Universities as Deemed Awarding Bodies through an order dated 25 March 2025. This is made possible through a simple Expression of Interest (EoI) process, allowing these prestigious Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to embed skilling in their curriculum. This will bolster the national mission in equipping learners with industry-relevant skills, ensuring they are better prepared for the workforce of the future. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s words today during #ParikshaPeCharcha2025, reaffirm our mission at MSDE—to make skills aspirational and integral to India’s growth story. We have been working relentlessly to bridge the gap between education and skills through industry-recognized courses, a robust skilling and aligned credit framework, and world-class training infrastructure. The introduction of convocation ceremonies for our skilled professionals is a testament to this commitment—honoring skill excellence with the same prestige as academic achievements. But true transformation happens when society recognizes skills as an equal pillar of progress alongside formal education. This shift is already underway. A skilled workforce is not just an economic necessity—it is the foundation of our ambition for a Viksit Bharat. By breaking free from outdated mindsets that once undervalued vocational expertise, we are placing India on the path to global leadership, where talent, innovation, and skills drive our nation forward. #SkillIndia #ViksitBharat #EducationAndSkills #FutureOfWork Narendra Modi
