Imagine the weight of a cancer diagnosis—now imagine that weight compounded by the fear of treatment costs, long wait times, and uncertainty about accessing quality care. For many, this is the harsh reality. On March 10th, 2025, my colleagues Amol Dhakane, Mohammad Faizan and I had the opportunity of presenting the findings of the impact assessment study of three cancer care projects to the CSR committee of India’s oldest and trusted stock brokering company, highlighting how these initiatives are helping to ease the burden on patients and their families. Implemented across Maharashtra and Karnataka, these initiatives go beyond treatment—they bring hope, dignity, and survival. The projects are about- Supporting the hospital to procure diagnostic systems Advanced technology in cancer diagnostics is enabling early detection, helping hospitals and doctors accommodate more patients in OPDs, reducing waiting times, and ensuring timely intervention. Supporting head and neck cancer patients For advanced-stage cancer patients, access to treatment at private hospitals at discounted rates ensures timely and quality treatment. This prevents patients from dropping out of treatment due to financial distress and improves recovery rates. Unwavering Support for Children Full financial assistance to pediatric cancer patients covers the entire treatment cycle—from diagnostics and chemotherapy to medications and nutritional support. Additional aid, including emergency funding, central line support, and palliative care, ensures fewer dropouts and better survival outcomes for children. However, in our assessment we learned that support is needed at every stage—from diagnosis to treatment, to post-treatment care. And Continuous counseling and long-term follow-ups play a crucial role in sustaining recovery. At NuSocia, we have conducted needs and impact assessments on healthcare projects. This is my second project focused on cancer care, and it has reaffirmed an undeniable truth: "Disease doesn’t just affect the patient—it impacts entire families". The high cost of treatment often forces families into debt, selling assets, or abandoning treatment altogether. These interventions help ease financial stress, ensuring that no patient has to choose between survival and affordability. Behind every step forward, the dedicated efforts of doctors, medical social workers, hospital administrators, and implementation partners play a crucial role. Their unwavering commitment and compassion are truly commendable. These projects are thoughtful and necessary steps toward compassionate cancer care. More such initiatives are needed to create a lasting difference. hashtag #NuSocia #CSR #CancerCare #CancerSupport #PatientSupport #HealthAndWellness Photo Credit: Photo by Tara Winstead from Pexels

The latest data from Fortune Most Powerful Women shows that only 11.6% of CEOs are women. The numbers in #India paint an even starker picture. ➡️ Just 1.6% of Fortune India 500 companies have female CEOs. ➡️ Among the 2,000 NSE-listed companies, only 100 are led by women. ➡️ When we broaden the lens to the entire C-suite, only 19% of leadership roles are held by women, lagging behind the global average of 30%—which itself is far from ideal. In his recent Forbes article, NuSocia advisor Paul Klein explores actionable strategies to foster equitable leadership and create stronger pathways for women in executive roles.
