About us

SayTrees is the fastest growing community of nature loving people from across the world. Started as an informal group, with a handful of techies in Bangalore coming together to plant trees in 2007 it is today a registered NGO which is known for it's amazing tree plantation activities. SayTrees works with Government and many corporate organisations to promote sustainable development of cities while maintaining the green cover of the cities. The group is actively supported by thousands of volunteers from kids, teens to senior citizens all working together to make their cities green. Our Mission: Each one must Plant one tree in a year. The idea is simple; just plant one tree in a year and look after it as your own family member. Be it your anniversary, your birthday or just another day, we encourage everyone to plant trees with their friends and family.

  • When water returns, so does life. This World Water Day, we reflect on one of the most powerful forms of restoration: bringing water back to where it once thrived. Across India, SayTrees has been working to revive lakes, restore traditional wells, and deepen ponds—all with one purpose: To increase water-holding capacity for people and ecosystems. We’ve worked in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Telangana, and beyond, desilting dried lakes, clearing encroachments, planting native species around water bodies, and making room for rain again. Each project has a direct impact: - More water for farming and livestock - Recharged groundwater for daily use - Improved soil moisture for local trees - Safe habitat for birds, insects, and aquatic life Because when a water body is revived, nature & community around it thrives. Let’s value water. Let’s restore it—for people, for biodiversity, for tomorrow. #WorldWaterDay #SayTrees #WaterRestoration #LakesOfIndia #RestoreWells #WaterForCommunities #Biodiversity #GroundwaterRecharge #WaterIsLife

  • Bangalore is getting greener, cooler, and more hopeful—one forest at a time. Since 2019, SayTrees has created 60 urban forest sites across the city, planting and nurturing 6,42,104 native trees. These aren’t just numbers—they're roots in the ground, shade on the streets, and cleaner air in our lungs. Forests in cities are silent healers. They regulate temperature, restore biodiversity, and purify the air we share. But they thrive only when protected—when care goes beyond planting. At SayTrees, we grow with our trees. We monitor, water, mulch, and stand by them—through dry spells, monsoons, and everything in between. Today, on the International Day of Forests, we honour the journey behind each sapling. Because a greener Bangalore isn't built in a day—it's grown, tree by tree.

  • The Sampanigram Nagar Well in Bangalore, once buried under debris and waste, is now a source of free, clean water for many in the community. Restoration work was completed in January 2022, and over the past three years, the well has become a lifeline for the community during the tough times of harsh summers when water was and is scarce SayTrees took on the task of cleaning, desilting, disinfecting and reinforcing the well’s structure. A protective grill and canopy were installed to prevent contamination and further accumulation of civil dump, a new motor to pump the water to the overhead tank, connected to taps for free access of water to all, the well is now fully functional. Today, auto drivers stop by, fill their empty bottles, and families once again rely on this well like the good old times—saving money while securing a sustainable water source for the future. Let’s restore Bangalore to its water abundance times. #saytrees #waterforall #wellrevival #sustainable #urbanconservation #cleanwatermatter #savewater

  • Meet Anjineyulu from Rapthadu, Andhra Pradesh. He embraced SayTrees' agroforestry model, transforming his 2-acre land with 116 mango, 116 jamun, and 174 guava trees. From his guava harvest alone, he gathered 2,000 kgs, selling most at ₹30/kg and generously sharing 300 kgs with his community—because true abundance is best when shared. But what makes this journey even more special is the first fruiting of his 116 mango trees, marking a milestone in the third year of the intervention. But the real transformation lies in the long-term shift agroforestry enables. His mango trees, now in their third year, have begun fruiting for the first time, marking a crucial step toward a diverse, multi-layered farm ecosystem. With improved soil health, better water retention, and year-round productivity, this is more than just a harvest—it’s a blueprint for climate-proofed farm livelihood, in the making. Let’s celebrate the farmers who are restoring balance to nature while securing their own future. #GrowWithFarmers #AgroforestryForFuture #SayTrees #SustainableFarming

  • As temperatures rise, the need for natural cooling has never been greater. The 9,825 trees planted at Nayandahalli Railway Station in 2022 are now stepping up to the challenge—providing shade, reducing ground temperatures, and improving air quality. With each passing season, this once-barren land is transforming into a self-sustaining green cover, mitigating the urban heat island effect and creating a microclimate that supports biodiversity. These trees are more than just a forest; they are nature’s answer to rising heat and a testament to the power of ecological restoration. As the summers intensify, the solution is growing all around us. #natureheals #urbancooling #greensolution #climateresilience #saytrees #forestsforfuture

For years, Kesamma and Kesanna depended on contractors who decided their fate, leaving them with little control over their land and income. The uncertainty of each season kept them in a cycle where hard work didn’t always mean stability. That changed when they turned to agroforestry. They planted fruiting trees—not just for a harvest but for a future they could rely on. With every sapling, they moved away from unpredictable markets and towards a steady income. Their land, once at the mercy of others, is now thriving, providing not just fruits but security. ₹2,30,000 over the year in earning, generated by intercropping. Last year, the farmer cultivated only Mangalore Cucumber, and this year, they cultivated maize, demonstrating the power of diversification in sustainable farming. Some doubted their decision, asking why they were planting for a future they might not see. But for them, it was never just about today. It was about creating something lasting—better soil, stable earnings, and a farm that could support the next generation. With SayTrees’ support, farmers like Kesamma and Kesanna are no longer dependent on external forces. They are reclaiming their land, their labor, and their future. #saytrees #farmers #farmersofindia #agriculture #farmerlife #sustainable #farmingmethods

  • Bangalore’s water crisis is deepening, with groundwater levels depleting and surface water sources becoming increasingly unreliable. In Sampangiram Nagar, a 300-year-old open well—once a lifeline for three generations—had fallen into disuse due to contamination and restricted access. To restore this vital resource, the SayTrees team applied traditional knowledge through a structured restoration process, which included: ✔️ Deep cleaning to remove silt and contaminants. ✔️ Structural reinforcement to enhance durability. ✔️ Hydrological assessment to ensure safe and effective groundwater recharge. Beyond reviving the well, this effort rekindled the community’s historical connection to it, recognizing its cultural and social significance. Now fully restored, the well provides a sustainable water source for the local community, strengthening decentralized water management and long-term water security. #WellRestoration #WaterSustainability #watercrisis #WaterConservation #restoration #water #bengaluru #conservation #community

  • This Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and leadership of women in agriculture who are not just growing crops but shaping a more sustainable future. Across villages and farmlands, women are reclaiming their space in agriculture—restoring degraded lands, securing better incomes, and strengthening their communities. Through agroforestry, they are building resilience, fostering independence, and leading the way toward environmental and economic sustainability. With access to natural resources, technical training, and farmer-led networks, they are proving that when women are empowered, entire communities thrive. Their efforts go beyond cultivation—they are nurturing progress for generations to come. This Women’s Day, let’s recognize and support the women who are growing a greener, more equitable world. Because when women lead, the future flourishes. #WomenEmpowerment #WomenInAgroforestry #SustainableFarming #PlantingHope #ClimateAction #WomenLeadingChange #HappyWomensDay
