The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has launched a Corporate Governance Charter tailored for startups, providing governance guidelines across four key stages: inception, progression, growth and going public. It includes a self-evaluative scorecard for startups to assess and improve their governance practices over time. Coming amid concerns over governance standards at several high-profile Indian startups like Byju's, BharatPe, GoMechanic, etc. in the past 12-18 months, CII aims to help startups embed good governance practices from the early days. The charter covers key focus areas and innovative concepts to improve overall governance standards, according to CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee.
