As educators, we play a pivotal role in shaping the future by fostering collaboration, innovation, and cultural enrichment. The 30th National Annual Sahodaya Conference of School Complexes, hosted by Kolkata Sahodaya in association with Techno India Group, was a significant milestone in advancing these goals. This landmark event brought together 1300 educators, policymakers, and visionaries from across India and seven international countries, providing a platform to address pressing educational challenges and explore pathways for holistic and inclusive learning. The evening began with the Lighting of the Lamp Ceremony, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge, graced by esteemed CBSE officials and dignitaries. I had the privilege of delivering the Welcome Address, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and shared responsibility in nurturing young minds. Key insights shared by Ministry of Education and CBSE officials illuminated evolving priorities, such as skill-based learning, integrating culture with academics, and fostering emotional intelligence. These discussions underscored the collective responsibility of educators to reshape education for global relevance. Techno India Group’s commitment to blending academics with cultural enrichment shone throughout the event, with moments that celebrated India’s diversity and creativity. These performances were a reminder that education goes beyond academics, nurturing well-rounded individuals equipped to lead with empathy and innovation. The event concluded with meaningful networking sessions, fostering camaraderie and the exchange of ideas among attendees. 💡Unpacking Alumni Relations💡 Often (mis)understood as event planning or casual networking; #alumnirelations, in reality is complex, hands-on work requiring #strategic planning, deep understanding of #diverse alumni needs, thoughtful #communication, and often stretching limited resources. Sustaining connections across career/life-stages, and geographical locations demands constant engagement, tailored programs, and unwavering #dedication from practitioners and volunteers alike. Yet, its #impact can be profound. At its core, alumni relations fulfill our human need for connection. 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 🤝🏻—for support, growth, and a sense of belonging. Alumni networks offer a #structured way to foster these relationships, creating a legacy of mutual support that strengthens both individuals and communities. Whether volunteer-led or institution-driven, both approaches bring unique strengths. #Volunteers offer a grassroots connection, while #institutions provide resources and strategic alignment; together, creating a powerful #synergy that enhances impact and builds lasting community bonds. Having served in alumni relations for over a decade, alumni networks are to me extended #familyties🫶🏻—bonded by cherished #values and a #commitment to support one another across generations. This sentiment should hold true not only for prestigious institutions but for any school, organisation, or even corporation. Alumni, including former employees, are ambassadors and connectors, enriching the ecosystem with #insights, #credibility, and #resources. I am gratified that alumni relations is getting the #significance it deserves across more sectors.
