Byju's in the Spotlight: BCCI's Pursuit of ₹158.90 Crore Debt💰 The Bengaluru bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has admitted the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) application to initiate corporate insolvency proceedings against Think & Learn Private Ltd, the parent company of Byju’s, for defaulting on ₹158.90 crore. According to the bench's order, Byju’s parent company had availed BCCI's services through sponsorship rights, and a clear default on payments has been established based on documented communications. What Does this mean for Byju's ? • Insolvency refers to a financial state where an individual or an entity (like a company) is unable to meet its financial obligations to creditors as they become due Specifically, Byju's owes significant amounts: ₹4.5 crores to employees in unpaid salaries over a period. ₹158 crores to BCCI, underscoring the scale of financial commitments. The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has appointed Pankaj Srivastava as an Interim Resolution Professional (IRP) for Think & Learn, which owns Byju's. The IRP will manage Byju's affairs because of financial difficulties. This means: • The IRP will take control of Byju's assets and business records. • He will handle all dealings on behalf of Byju's with other parties, including legal matters. • The IRP can arrange temporary finances with approval from creditors. • He will gather all claims against Byju's and form a Committee of Creditors to oversee the process. What will be the order of Payment if by any chance it can be paid back? 1. NCLT: NCLT will oversee the insolvency proceedings, ensuring a fair distribution of funds among creditors. 2. Workmen Dues: Employees are prioritized, with dues for 24 months given precedence. 3. Secure Creditors: Debts owed to secured creditors will be addressed next. 4. Worker Dues (12 months): Employees' dues for the next 12 months follow, emphasizing continued support for workforce rights. 5. Unsecured Creditors: Finally, debts owed to unsecured creditors will be addressed. Here is a step-by-step process to pick apart any low-level design question. ----- 𝑆𝐷𝐸 1+ ----- 𝟏. 𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐏𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐁𝐋𝐄𝐌 As you speak with the interviewer, you may list 5-10 requirements for the question. You cannot satisfy these requirements in 45 minutes. Decide on what is important to the system. Pick JUST ONE important requirement, and start with it. The rest can be picked later, if time permits. 𝟐. 𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐏𝐈𝐬 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 Users interact with the system using APIs. That's what matters most. Name the APIs sensibly. Walk through how a user will use these APIs to meet the given requirement. Example: In a booking system, how does a customer temporarily lock, pay for, and permanently book a seat? They do it using APIs. Your job is to explain the request flow and interactions. 𝟑. 𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐎𝐁𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐒 List the request and response parameters. Most of your system's objects will surface here. I wanted to share some unpopular opinions about layoffs and restructuring in organisations, especially in software. After Intuit announced their round of layoffs, there has been some confusion, freshers are panic again, and I've heard these opinions from some of the best developers and leaders in the software domain which might help you too. I wish to share them so you can also have this perspective in mind. 1. Cracking interviews is different from sustaining in an organization: Freshers, especially, are more focused on cracking interviews than on sustaining their positions. When a friend shared this with me, I felt this is something many don't realize about the software industry. Often, what you are asked in an interview is different from the actual work you will be doing. Embracing a love for technology and working towards the organization's goals is more important than just cracking interviews. 2. Your pay package comes with expectations: Many of us look at the cool packages and perks companies offer and assume that life inside is a fantasy. We often forget to highlight the hard work and responsibility required. If your package is high and you are not meeting expectations, it's likely that you will be out sooner or later. So, if an organization offers you a high package, it's time to celebrate but also to look at the responsibilities and challenges you should be tackling. 3. A right leader must know where to invest: Yes, people are important, but if one department is doing well in business and another is not or is on the verge of failing, it is crucial for a leader to make tough decisions to keep the organization running smoothly. Considering these facts would be a great addition to your software career. Yes, I do agree that what Intuit did in panic is not praiseworthy. Better communication, informing employees about their performance, and giving them a chance to improve would have been a better way to handle the situation. Again i haven't been in the leadership team shoes to comment on this. Just letting you all know my thoughts on how to take this up positively and learn from this. “Bhaiya at the end to react native ka code bhi jvm bytecode m hi compile hota h na?” This was a response i got from a developer when asked about how react native works in Android. But reality could not be farther. See, Android DVM is not capabale of running javascript code because these are inherently different technologies. Instead, what happenes is that a JSC (JavascriptCore) runtime that is bundled into android application alongside react native libs which actually loads the javascript code into memory at runtime. And then, there is a React Native bridge native library (.so file) which acts as a intermediator, translating the calls from java/kotlin code and js code. And because of all these intermediary layers translating instructions among languages, the performance for react native is not as good as native applications. Hope it helps.

Most of the layoffs are not relevant to performance but have a direct correlation with the projects team is working on. Compared to the same time in 2023, 2024 has slightly better opportunities for IT professionals. 1. Most #layoffs from big companies are mostly over. 2. Small companies are doing #layoffs but that too not in big numbers. 3. Despite fear of AI, companies still want to hire quality engineers who can crack relatively tough interviews. 4. No crazy hiring/firing. No crazy hikes too ! I feel we are slowly going back to pre-covid times, with a main change of AI. Budget 2024. Tax in India. (Salary of 2Cr INR in India vs $250K in US (exclude California)) I was talking to a Senior SDE in FAANG Bangalore. Abstracting out deep details. Here is the summary : 1. You pay a Tax of >35% if your salary is around 2Cr in India. Given all the surcharges. 2. 12% (6+6) EPF contribution. In India employer contribution is also included in your total salary calculation. 3. Indirect Tax (Don't want to go in details). In IT heavy states of US except California. 1. You pay around 28% tax (including Federal, Social Security, Medicare tax etc). 2. 401K pension scheme. Employer contribution(2%-6%) is not included in your TC. It's extra. 3. Except Rent and Food, rest most of things are of same price in India (or may be less like Laptop, iPhones, BMW, PS5 even with tax). 4. You can send 30-40 Lakhs to invest in India as remittance. (Patriotism). Now last, getting 2Cr Job in India is extremely tough in India, might possible only at Principle/Staff Engineer or few Senior SDEs. You need at least 10+ yrs of Solid Experience. Even if you join Google as fresher it will takes at least 7+ years to reach there (best case). However, $250K in US, is pretty average for 2-3 years of experience (especially for Indian Software Developer). Senior SDE can get around at least $300K. Principle SDE can get around at least $500K. *All above are for Software Developer profession only.

It displayed a part of the JavaScript code (javascript​:showhide Div('post_box_0', 'post_link_0')) instead of the intended match commentary. Although the issue does not disrupt the overall experience, it highlights the importance of robust testing for notifications, especially when dynamically inserting content. Such glitches, if unnoticed, may affect the user experience. As a testing professional, I understand how crucial such small details can be in production environments. Turbulent times like this call for change in thinking patterns for techies too!! 2 things which I think every techie should start doing if they aren't doing so far: 1) Decide whether you want to continue doing regular tech "job" or are you going to try a different approach "some business, self-employment/freelancing, alternate livelihood means". 2) Based on what you consider works best for you, say "job" for example, next up create SMART goals and start working on them from today... Don't wait till the new year begins!! The real new year always begins in our minds when we take that "pledge"!! 🔥 The two extremes of the IT industry On one side, we hear reports from companies like EY and Bajaj Allianz, where employees are facing immense pressure. On the other hand, managers from companies like Flipkart are sharing stories about their teams working long hours, with employees having lunch at 5 p.m. after being on calls for nine hours straight. Similarly, last year, on the night of December 31st, I noticed posts from employees at companies like Swiggy, praising their teams for working 24/7 to keep the website running. It raises the question: if there are ongoing development, infrastructure, or system issues, shouldn’t we address them proactively now instead of waiting for peak traffic? If companies are aware of recurring issues, such as development or infrastructure challenges, the time to address them is now. By taking proactive steps early, these problems can be resolved well before peak periods like the end of the year or major festivals.
