First Solar Eclipse 2025 Today: Know Details Here

This partial solar eclipse will also lead to a double sunrise, a rare sight where the Sun appears to rise twice. This happens when the Moon partially blocks the Sun during an eclipse, making it look like the Sun rises, dims, and then rises again as the Moon moves away. This effect is most noticeable when the eclipse happens at sunrise. Weather conditions, like clouds or light refraction, can make the illusion even more dramatic.

For those unable to witness the event in person, several platforms, including NASA, the SLOOH Observatory, and possibly ISRO, may provide live streaming of the solar eclipse on their respective social media pages and YouTube channels. You can also catch live updates and in-depth coverage of the eclipse right here on our platform. Below are links to some livestreams where you will be able to see the partial Solar Eclipse in real-time.

Partial Solar Eclipse 2025: Be sure to protect your eyes before watching

Solar Eclipses are beautiful to watch, but before you head out and stare into the Sun, be sure you are not directly looking at it as it may damage your eyesight. Viewing any part of the Sun through a camera lens, telescope, pair of binoculars or some solar filters is likely to cause an eye injury.

This holds true especially for a partial Solar Eclipse, since the Sun won't be fully covered by the Moon. Before watching any Solar Eclipse, make sure you look at the Sun using solar viewing glasses, also known as Eclipse glasses or use a handheld solar viewer.

Solar eclipse to end forever?

Like all things, sometime in the distant future, Solar Eclipses will come to an end. This is because reportedly the moon is slowly drifting away from Earth and will eventually appear too small in the sky to completely obscure the sun.

According to Dallas University, solar eclipses will end in about 600 million years, but some estimates suggest it may take more than a billion years for the phenomenon to fade away.

What happens in space during a partial Solar Eclipse?

During a partial Solar Eclipse, the edge of the Moon's shadow, known as penumbra, swipes the Earth. However, the center of the shadow, called umbra, completely misses the Earth, leading to a partial Solar Eclipse instead of a total one. For those wondering, the point where the partial Solar Eclipse is the most visible is near the line that divides day and night sides of Earth. Astronomers call it 'the terminator'.
