Watch: King Charles welcomed with ‘Dhoom Machale’ tune at Westminster on Commonwealth Day ceremony

The British Royal Family, including King Charles III and Queen Camilla, gathered at the Westminster Abbey for the annual Commonwealth Day ceremony two weeks ago and were greeted by Bollywood song “Dhoom Machale” tune, which was performed by Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band, a Hindu Scottish pipe band.

The group chose the famous Bollywood track to welcome the King and Queen, alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Anne, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

A video of the pipe band playing “Dhoom Machale” while greeting King Charles III and Queen Camilla has gone viral on social media. The moment of Bollywood music being played to welcome the Royal family became a cross-cultural phenomenon which has resonated with many.

The band, Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band from Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury, North-West London, performed on March 10 at the Westminster Abbey which hosted the Commonwealth Day Service.

The band while posting the video of their performance on Instagram wrote, “A truly unforgettable moment celebrating unity, heritage, and culture, and follows a long list of performances by the band in front of royalty.”

Netizens recalled the movie Dhoom 2 wherein actor Hrithik Roshan played the lead role as a thief. In a light hearted joke, some users commented on the video of the band with one saying, “The bandmaster outdid himself that day!”

Another user commented, “That’s Hrithik Roshan disguised as Camilla,” while another Instagram user joked “I think Dhoom 4 movie promotion happened there.”

According to the band’s official website, “Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band is part of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan based in Ahmedabad.”
