Chi siamo
Founded in 1941 by Enzo Anacleto Mantellassi, Manteco® began as a small spinning mill dedicated to producing recycled wool yarns from old military clothing and blankets. By 1943, the company expanded into woven textiles, maintaining its commitment to circularity and sustainability from the start. Over the decades, Manteco® has evolved into a benchmark in the fashion industry, celebrated for its creativity, innovation, and sustainable practices. Our dedication to research and investment has led to pioneering textile solutions that integrate a scientific approach to sustainability. Manteco® is fully certified and proudly produces 100% in Tuscany through MSystem, our specialized, zero-mile, fully traced, transparent, and certified supply chain comprising over 56 partner textile companies. Manteco® champions circular fashion, striving to prevent value leakages along the supply chain. Our Zero-Waste system recovers all wool industrial waste, and our Sustainable Design philosophy ensures the creation of durable and recyclable wool textiles. Innovative initiatives like Project43 and Project53 recycle wool fabric offcuts and unsold garments. We also introduce our own brands of sustainable wool: - MWool®: The next generation of recycled wool, made from pre- and post-consumer wool garments and scraps, colored without added dyes through our Recype® technique. - ReviWool®: Low-impact virgin wool crafted from valuable co-product fibers from the worsting process, transforming waste into premium textiles. Our relentless pursuit of sustainability has earned Manteco® membership in the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Network and partnership with the Monitor for Circular Fashion by SDA Bocconi. Not to mention 'The Climate Action' award at the 2023 Sustainable Fashion Awards by CNMI. ✨ Challenging students today to design a more sustainable tomorrow. 👏 Meet the winners of our first #MantecoSustainabilityAward with Accademia Italiana. Congratulations to Alice Ambrosio, Gaia Orso, Benedetta Polello, Gaia Schiavon and Martina Strambi, whose project "Menda" impressed us with its innovative approach to sustainability and design. 🧥 The name "Menda", meaning defect or imperfection, invites reflection on self-acceptance, emphasizing the importance of embracing one’s imperfections in a world often driven by perfection. This concept aligns with the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, which finds beauty in imperfection, incompleteness, and the passage of time. 🪄 This seasonless womenswear collection redefines comfort and elegance through an approach that celebrates individuality, showing a perfect balance between oversized silhouettes, layering, cut-out details, fabric manipulations and contrasting elements. #MantecoAcademy #Manteco #MadeInItaly #ResponsibleFashion #CircularFashion #DesignContest

⛔️ Nobody wants garments covered in #pilling—that’s why choosing brands that use #Manteco textiles makes a real difference. 🧥 Pilling happens when loose fibers tangle due to friction, forming those unwanted fuzz balls. But did you know that high-quality textile production can help prevent it? From fiber selection to spinning, weaving, and finishing, every step plays a crucial role in reducing fiber shedding and enhancing durability. 🪢 We tackle pilling through advanced research, testing and innovation, ensuring our fabrics maintain their beauty and longevity over time. #SustainableFashion #TextileInnovation #MantecoFabrics

🏷 Why do fashion brands choose our #MWool® textiles to lower their footprint while maintaining high quality? 🎨 One key reason is the way we create #Colors: without added dyes or chemicals. 💡 Thanks to our proprietary #Recype® color creation process, our artisans accurately weigh and mechanically mix various shades of MWool fibers to develop ‘recipes’ of colors. With over 80 years in wool recycling, we've perfected over 1,000 MWool® colors, each carefully crafted and stored for future use. By using this process, we save: 🔹 19,000 kg of dyestuff avoided every year* 🔹 11,000 kg of chemical auxiliaries avoided every year* 🔹 722,127 kg of CO2 emissions avoided every year* 🔹 10,641,878 MJ of energy saved every year* 🔹 122,707,000 liters of water saved every year* ♻️ Our textiles #colors are made differently. #SustainableFashion #RecycledWool #EcoFriendlyColors #CircularFashion *Data based on the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of MWool® Recycled Wool Fibers, carried out by Manteco® and Polytechnic of Turin. This study is peer-reviewed, published as a scientific publication, and certified through the EPD® Environmental Product Declaration certification.

🌍 We help fashion brands lessen their environmental impact, fiber by fiber. According to our latest #SustainabilityReport, thanks to the use of our #ReviWool® fibers, compared to using generic virgin wool, in a year we saved: 💨 96,785 tons of CO2-eq (equivalent to removing over 20,000 cars off the road for a year) 💧 17.45 hm3 of water (enough to fill over 7,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools) 🔋 129.68 TJ of energy (roughly the annual energy consumption of over 1,200 households) Not just certified and traceable, but also with reduced impacts - based on pioneering Life Cycle Assessments and peer-reviewed scientific publications. #Manteco #SustainableFashion #CircularEconomy #MadeInItaly
