🎤 Today at the final conference of the Fintech and Insurtech Observatory (Osservatori Digital Innovation) I had the pleasure of participating in the Round Table "Fintech & Insurtech: what do Italians really want?", moderated by Laura Grassi, whom I thank. It was an important opportunity to share our vision of FIDA and Open Finance, also in light of our experience on a global scale. 📌 Key Messages: 🔹 FIDA continues its journey • After the significant push towards Open Banking, FIDA can accelerate the evolution towards Open Finance, with a priority focus on security. 🔹 The main players in the Open Finance model • The customer, called to share their data more broadly and consciously. • Data Holders and Data Users, who must be able to transform this data into innovative solutions, generating concrete value for the market and improving the customer experience. 🔹 A challenge and a great opportunity: According to research by the Fintech and Insurtech Observatory, 95% of Italian consumers, aged 18 to 74, who are active online, are reluctant to automatically share their data. However, 43% of them would be willing to do it in exchange for a certain economic benefit, while 15% would do it if the data were used to obtain truly personalized services and products. In the next two years, the real challenge will be to convince these consumers that data sharing can translate into concrete benefits, focusing on innovation, security and a tangible improvement of the services offered, demonstrating that the benefits outweigh the risks. 🔹 Towards open architecture: It is essential to develop platforms based on open and flexible architectures, capable of adapting to future developments. In May 2023, “BPER Banca” faced a dire situation as over 20 rivers flooded across the Emilia Romagna region. Subsequently, BPER Banca utilized Everbridge's geolocation features to visualize critical resources previously identified in Orbit. 🇮🇹 The Italian Financial Intelligence Unit (Banca d'Italia - Eurosistema) has published its 2023 annual report, highlighting a 3.2% decrease in the number of #SuspiciousTransactionReports (STRs) compared to 2022, with a total of 150,418 reports. Despite the quantitative decline, the complexity of the transactions has increased, necessitating adjustments in analysis tools to improve process efficiency and effectiveness. As of January 1, 2024, new anomaly indicators have been introduced, and in 2023, a project was launched to monitor the quality of active collaboration in the #antimoneylaundering system. Significant reporting flows related to economic support policies, such as the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), have emerged, alongside a rise in #cyberfraud and the use of FinTech tools designed to obstruct the traceability of financial flows. Inspection activities have doubled compared to the previous year, targeting high-risk sectors such as crowdfunding and the trading of tax credits. Monitoring of foreign wire transfers has identified #illicitflows to Russia triangulated through third countries, while investigations into VAT carousel fraud continue. Requests for information from judicial and investigative authorities have increased by 31.3%. A new Memorandum of Understanding has been signed to optimize the exchange of information between #UIF, DNA, the Department of Public Security, and the Guardia di Finanza. Additionally, three new EU legislative acts have been published to complete the new anti-#moneylaundering regulatory framework. The Mutual Evaluation of the Italian anti-money laundering system by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is set to begin soon, with a significant contribution expected from UIF in assessing the effectiveness of preventive measures. #aml #compliance #dirtymoney #followthemoney
