Privileged to have attended ECA Club Connect 2025 last week! ⚽🤝 This incredible event brought together European clubs and key stakeholders for learning and networking, offering a firsthand look at how clubs collaborate to build a stronger football ecosystem. I focused on #youthfootball with panels on holistic ecological talent development and managing the transition to first-team football, which aligns with our ambitions at The Football Foundation for Africa (FFA) to create opportunities for young talents across the continent. A standout moment was meeting football legends Gaizka Mendieta and Giorgio Chiellini. Listening to Chiellini share his candid insights on the challenges of professional football—his journey from a 20-year-old in a star-studded Juventus dressing room to becoming a leader and mentor—was truly inspiring. I am grateful for the opportunity, connections and lessons from this impactful platform! Congratulations to the European Club Association (ECA) team on a well-executed event. #ECAClubConnect #FootballLeadership #Networking #Growth

I finally had the opportunity to visit the ISDE campus in Madrid (after two failed attempts - they say persistence pays😅). In the last three years, ISDE has generously offered scholarships worth over USD 200,000 through the Africa Football Business Summit, opening doors for African students to pursue world-class sports law and management education. During my visit, I had the pleasure of engaging in fruitful discussions with Juan José Sánchez Puig (CEO), Germán Ruiz Gómez (Head of Business Development), and José Javier Hombrados Ibañez (Head of Institutional Relations) on ways to deepen our collaboration. One key outcome is our participation in the ISDE Sports Convention, where we will co-host a roundtable on the Growth and Challenges facing African football. This platform will allow us to spotlight the opportunities within African football and foster stronger global partnerships. A huge thank you to the ISDE team for their continued support and commitment to African sports development. Looking forward to shaping the future of sports education and business together! I had the pleasure of making a courtesy visit to the Kenyan Embassy in Spain, where I met H.E. Amb. Nairimas Ole-Sein and discussed the growing opportunities in sports business, tourism, and diplomacy. We also explored synergies around the upcoming Africa Football Business Summit 2025. Last year, Ambassador Ole-Sein witnessed the signing of the MoU between The Football Foundation for Africa (FFA) and ISDE Law Business School during the annual ISDE Sports Convention, marking a significant step in advancing sports education and governance. Currently, three students are studying at ISDE. The first beneficiary of the ISDE/FFA scholarship graduated in January. I sincerely thank her for her continued interest and support in our mission to develop African sports through strategic global partnerships. I am looking forward to working together to drive impactful initiatives! #SportsBusiness #Diplomacy #Kenya #Spain #AFBS2025 #TransformingOurGame

Over the past few years, I’ve become addicted (in a good way! 😄) to seeing passionate people come together at the Africa Football Business Summit to have authentic, inspiring conversations about what it will take to move our industry forward. What started as an idea has become a powerful platform connecting leaders, innovators, and change-makers across Africa and beyond. Despite the challenges—especially limited resources—we keep pushing, and AFBS continues to expand its impact and foster a global network shaping the future of African football. As we gear up for the fourth edition of AFBS in October, we need your full support to make it even more impactful. Your contribution matters, whether through partnerships, sponsorships, spreading the word, or simply showing up. Let’s come together once again to explore how football, business, and tourism can drive sustainable development for Africa. Drop a comment, send a DM, or let’s connect to explore ways you can be part of this journey. Let’s make #AFBS2025 unforgettable! 💡⚽🌍 #Africa #football #footballbusiness #TransformingOurGame Pre-registration open. https://lnkd.in/dg5EMFCE The Football Foundation for Africa

  • The Football Foundation for Africa (FFA) extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Patrice Motsepe on his re-election, unopposed, for a second term as President of the Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF). His continued leadership is a testament to the African football community's trust and confidence in his vision for the game. Under his stewardship, African football has seen significant strides in development, governance, and commercial growth. As an organisation committed to unlocking Africa’s football potential through grassroots development, capacity-building, and innovation, we are eager to join forces with CAF and other stakeholders to strengthen the football ecosystem across the continent. Together, we can harness football's power to drive social and economic transformation in Africa. We reaffirm our support for Dr. Motsepe and his team, wishing them success in this next leadership chapter. #AfricanFootball #CAF #FootballBusiness #TransformingOurGame

Founder & CEO at The Football Foundation for Africa (FFA) | Helping to build a sustainable business model for African football.

Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to be part of Soccerex MENA and Sports Expo in #Cairo, Egypt. This exciting and enlightening experience allowed me to connect with industry leaders, exchange insights, and explore new opportunities in #football. One of my highlights was participating in a panel discussion brilliantly moderated by Trevor Watkins alongside football legend Mikael Silvestre and Ahmed Abas of EY. Our discussion focused on Unlocking Football Finance and Opportunities in the #MENA Region, a crucial topic given the region’s rapid growth and investment in the game. While the primary focus was on MENA, I was privileged to share an African perspective, advocating for: ✅ More sustainable long-term investment in African grassroots football 🌱 ✅ Building Africa’s capacity to engage productively with markets like MENA 🤝 ✅ Stronger collaboration to create win-win opportunities across regions 🌍 It was also amazing to see the amount of investment #Egypt has made in sports! Talk about being intentional, innovative, and strategic! The planned Al Ahly Sporting Club stadium and Olympic City are standout projects, not to mention the technology innovations under Estadat. Football’s potential as an economic driver and social change agent is immense. By continuing to foster partnerships, knowledge exchange, and strategic investment, we can unlock #Africa’s football ecosystem and position it more effectively globally, paving the way for significant growth and development. Thank you to #Soccerex and #SportsExpo Cairo for creating such a valuable platform and for the invitation. Looking forward to continuing these critical conversations and driving impactful change! #SoccerexMENA #footballbusiness #TransformingOurGame The Football Foundation for Africa
