"Mobile Journalism" - MoJo, continues to be a flexible tool in the hands of journalists, to create audiovisual content in a fast time and with high efficiency. During a week, we practiced MoJo with journalism students at the University of Tirana, focusing on the creation of media content for digital and television platforms. Together with my colleague Norbert Sinkovic, in several sessions we oriented them on mobile storytelling, from structuring the news, reporting standards, expanding on the technical details of filming and editing. The training was supported by the OSCE Presence in Albania, in cooperation with the Department of Journalism and Communication, at the University of Tirana and contributed to increasing the capacities for mobile journalism among young journalists, who are facing the momentum of the digital age. #MoJo #MobileJournalism #Training #UT #Journalism

I feel duty towards freedom of speech, that is why I signed the petition "against political interference in the media and social networks" and I invite everyone to sign it as well. This is not about the politics, I don't care about the left or the right, I care about the democracy. And since the freedom of speech is one of the main pillars of it, we need to keep it FREE. I read and heard many arguments for and against the new law, but ask yourself: how can speech be free if someone tries to regulate it? Even if there is "good cause" behind, humans are not objective beings, we are emotional and tribal. If this law gets into effect, those on top will use it to censor those on the bottom. And make no mistake, the left will use it against the right, and then the right will use it against the left. The circle of life nobody wants to see. If you want to become an adult, a full member of society, you need to accept the responsibility of life and the fact that sometimes you will read or hear something you don't like, something that insults you, maybe even something dark. But is it really a good idea to put guards up, to go into a bubble where the "bad people" and their opinions can't hurt you? Not if you want to grow, not if you want to become a critical thinker. So if you care about your freedom, if you like to see the diversity of opinions which is the only way for society to grow and develop, I invite you to sign the petition against the new law. Serbia’s Tech Growth - From Chasing Trends to Setting Them Fiscal Solutions, headquartered in Serbia, has been developing its own software products for 20 years, with 95% of its revenue generated internationally across 29 countries. While our core business operates primarily outside of Serbia, we remain deeply invested in advancing the country's tech ecosystem and fostering its growth potential. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has forecasted positive economic growth for Serbia, with GDP expected to accelerate in 2024 and 2025. Following moderate growth of 2.5% in 2022 and 2023, Serbia's economy grew significantly in the first half of 2024, achieving a 4.3% increase year-over-year. This momentum is largely driven by the services sector—particularly trade, tourism, catering, and construction. Notably, Serbia's ICT sector has been a bright spot. The first eight months of 2024 saw ICT exports rise by 19%, reaching €2.63 billion ($2.85 billion), with a trade surplus of €2.04 billion. The sector’s net profit for 2023 soared by 58%, highlighting its importance to Serbia’s economic future. However, two key challenges face Serbia’s tech industry if it wants to become a true global innovator: 1️⃣ Dependence on Outsourcing Currently, Serbia’s IT industry is heavily reliant on outsourcing, either as branches of global corporations or as service providers for third-party companies. While this drives sector growth and brings in advanced technology, it limits long-term sustainability. Global competition is steadily pushing prices down, which impacts revenue. Shifting towards developing and exporting proprietary tech products would create a stronger foundation and increase resilience. 2️⃣ Trend-Driven Focus Serbia’s tech sector often follows global trends, which can be risky. For example, when blockchain gained popularity, Serbia adopted it quickly, even integrating it into university programs. However, as blockchain lost traction and AI rose to prominence, the country faced difficulties in adapting to the new focus. Rather than chasing short-term trends, Serbia’s tech ecosystem would benefit from fostering innovation that can set trends, supported by the development of unique, exportable products. To secure a more resilient future, Serbia’s tech industry must evolve from simply following trends to shaping them. By investing in strong standard tech education and research, product development and innovation, Serbia can not only keep pace but lead the way in global tech. #innovation #development #business

🤯 There is something rotten in Europe. Besides our perverted love for regulation and bureaucracy, we’re also managing to suffocate startups systemically. To get European funding distributed by Croatian institutions and designed for startups, the startups have to be profitable (?!). [Dramatic pause to allow a major WTF moment for our US-born friends.] Brussel-based bureaucrats strike again with their complete detachment from the real world. Startups in the early stages shouldn’t be profitable, people! The goal of startups is to develop innovative products and grow. To add insult to injury, successful startups from the region are dragged through the mud by journalists. Lately, these great minds have discovered that some startups/scaleups ARE NOT PROFITABLE?! Somebody call the Brussels finance police. Again, only in Europe will you find semi-literate hacks evaluating the morals and business logic of successful entrepreneurs. In some startups, the absence of profitability is a systemic flaw. If buy something for $5 and sell it for $2, this is not good. But in most startups, the absence of profit is a feature, not a bug. Remember Amazon, anyone? If we don’t pull ourselves together - Europe will become a Disneyland for people from successful continents. But hey, at least we can make good espresso, so our future's secure!
