🌟 Windows desktop application as a .net winforms developer! 🌟 In April and May 2024, I had the pleasure of developing a Windows desktop application named Donation Register for Sahyadri Nisarga Mitra (SNM). This application was designed to streamline the management of donations received by SNM. What is windows desktop application? It is a software program designed specifically for tasks of a user or organization. It can be created for managing business operations, automating repetitive tasks, or providing specialized tools for specific industries Key features: 1. Multi-User, Multi-client Support: Seamless operation over a LAN allowing multiple users to work simultaneously on several computers. 2. Administrator Control: Admin has full access and can grant specific permissions to users, for secure and custom access levels. 3. User Management: Admin can create/update users and assign permissions as needed. 4. User Guidance and Tooltips: Tooltips to provide helpful instructions, making the software intuitive and user-friendly. 5. Shortcut keys: Navigate easily through menu and form controls using shortcut keys. 6. Company Basic information saved in this section for consistent use across the software. 7. Settings: Globally and locally used settings can be configured. 8. Intuitive Menu System: Menu strips at the top and bottom provide easy access to various forms and functionalities. Menu visibility is tailored to each user's permissions. 9. Real-Time Dashboard: The dashboard displays updated donation figures by refreshing automatically, ensuring real-time data accuracy. Dashboard is prepared to show 6 basic statistics and their percent growth along with that 5 graphs to show Month, project, top donors in the latest version. 10. Streamlined Receipt Generation: Easily create and print donation receipts, with support for A4 page size settings. Donors list is maintained as a master to reuse the information for creating receipts in future. 11. Reporting: Generate various reports by using different filters, with options to export data to MS Excel for further analysis and customization. Users can copy data to Excel. 12. Secure Data Operations: Users have restricted access over data modifications by permissions granted by admin. 13. Robust Backup and Data Restoration: Automatic backup functionality available. 14. Operation's log: User operations are logged for for better accountability. This project not only enhanced my skills in .NET and WinForms development but also allowed me to contribute to a noble cause by supporting SNM's mission of environmental conservation. I am excited to see how this application will help SNM manage their donations more efficiently and effectively. #SkybearNET Scripts landing page and Business plan - Changelog 2024-07-21 🥳 It's time for another changelog update for the past few weeks. #SkybearNET is a managed platform to automate your HTTP API synthetics testing using Hurl plain text scripts (and other formats soon). Use it for testing your HTTP APIs on-demand or periodically, or use it as a complex orchestrator for a sequence of HTTP requests that need to be executed in order using data from previous ones at specific times of the day. In this changelog update I cover some small UX improvements, the new product landing page and resources I used to guide me through its design and structure, and the new pricing Business plan and my thinking process around it. I finally explain a bit why I am going to target the Continuous Integration (CI) market over the next couple of months, and attempt in providing value-adding features for users to use the platform to run their API test scripts. 🌟 Hey everyone! 🌟 In a year or smth I will cross my 20 years in the industry. Crazy numbers, yeah? When there is some new tech in the market, how do we adopt it knowing some real world business is running on the previous tech. Let's talk about .NET Aspire with .NET 9. If I have an existing project on .NET 8 fully deployed into production, I can't just adopt .NET Aspire with .NET 9 from scratch. Rather, this needs gradual adoption process with proper concerns. First thing is, I need to know how to migrate existing system into the latest tech "without breaking things"! The quotation ("") part is important. "How things were deployed previously vs how the new thing is moving the deployment", this needs real attention. ⚠️ Configuring Aspire Components considering everything is running on a single machine is not enough, because the application could be using some cloud database or service bus. So, I also need to know how the new setup will work when different components are hosted on different servers? Otherwise, I might start migrating without proper research and in the middle of migration, I stuck in "nowhere". So what's the approach?? Before breaking the old approach, I need to mentally map the new approach end-to-end. Now break the old one? Still no. I've to slowly start migrating to the new solution without trying to harm the old solution. So that I have both workable solution for the moment. Test, test, test... Works? Continuing my previous post about Three.js, I also tried to implement authorization using Google OAuth. TL;DR: Here is my repository: https://lnkd.in/gXBWhDxN This project is using React + Vite Typescript and Golang with Gin. OAuth helps user login to apps without entering credentials e.g. password by using authorization server to get user data like email, profile picture, etc. which also creating access token for the user itself. There are many flows that can be used in this OAuth protocol which depends on the app use case. For more information about Google OAuth we can find in https://lnkd.in/g4r27vgG In my case, I already have the conventional auth flow using email and password. So, I am generating access token from the app instead of using access token from google authorization server. The OAuth authorization process in this project could be simplified with these steps: 🚀 user click login with google and redirected to google oauth service with client id param. 🚀 user select an account and confirm, then redirected to callback uri with "code" param. Callback uri(s) should be registered in google cloud console. 🚀 "code" param is extracted in the front end and then sent with api request to back end. 🚀 back end processing the "code" to exchange it with google access token. 🚀 with that access token, we request the user profile data from google account. 🚀 email from the google account then checked in the app database. If email exist, then continue to generate access token. If not exist, then continue to register flow. 🚀 access token and refresh token that has been generated, then sent back to the front end. Okay maybe, that's a simple explanation about Google OAuth flow in this project. Feel free to create a pull request if you know better practices in the implementation. Breakdown of how to effectively handle WebView automation and inspect elements inside a WebView using *Appium*: 1. Switching Between Native and WebView Contexts In hybrid apps, you’ll need to switch between the native app and the WebView. Here’s how you can do that in Appium: Get Available Contexts: Use the getContextHandles() method to retrieve all contexts (Native and WebView). Switch to WebView: Once you identify the WebView context, switch to it using context(). Switch Back to Native: After interacting with the WebView, switch back to the native context. 2. Inspecting WebView Elements. Unlike native views, WebView elements need to be inspected differently, and here’s how to do it: Enable WebView Debugging: First, ensure that WebView debugging is enabled in your app. You can enable this by adding the following line in your app code (for Android): WebView.setWebContentsDebuggingEnabled(true) Use Chrome DevTools- Open Chrome and navigate to chrome://inspect/#devices. Connect your device or emulator and you’ll see the WebView listed under your app. Click "Inspect" to open the Chrome DevTools window, where you can interact with the elements inside the WebView and inspect the locators (such as id, class, or xpath). 3. Testing SpringAI with SQS message payloads. With our current implementation of customer on-boarding, we submit customer payloads to different micro-services. So why not consume this with SpringBoot AI and RAG? So, implemented a SpringBoot AI app with PostgreSQL and the vector extensions. Install Ollama and download LLama3.2. Then add a SQS Listener class and we have JSON payloads to process. First attempt - store JSON as is in the vector store. Second attempt - unpack the JSON payload and store smaller chunks. Both proved to be very temperamental at best. Seems that LLM's really don't like to work with key-value type payloads. Third attempt - build a paragraph using a template solution and then replace the keys in the paragraph with the relevant JSON node value. Store these paragraphs as a single document in the vector store. The paragraph is so small at the moment that it does not need chunking. Something to test in future though. And voila! LLama3.2 seems to be in its element. Now you can ask some interesting questions on the customer registration information. Playing around with the temperature setting is also an eye opener.
