Less than an hour after posting on Instagram that my schedule was completely packed for the quarter, I got an invite to speak at The Nigeria Food Summit. I couldn’t say no, and here’s why At Salad Africa (Techstars ‘22), we provide embedded lending infrastructure that enables online marketplaces and B2B SaaS platforms offer fully digital loans to their SME customers directly within their apps. In the last 7 months we’ve helped unlock nearly $1M in credit for SMEs in the food and agriculture value chain, and with new partnerships we’ve just secured, we’re set to deploy an additional $17M over the next year. Just like YouLend, Parafin and R2, which power financing for platforms like Doordash, JustEat and Glovo, we’ve seen an uptick in adoption from platforms in the food delivery space. So this event presented a good opportunity to engage with a subset of our end beneficiaries first hand. Beyond work for me, the summit was a celebration of Nigeria’s dynamic food ecosystem, from talented chefs and restauranteurs to enterprising foodpreneurs.
