I am thrilled to share my professional growth journey during my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) experience at the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), where I served as a Customer Support Executive in the Customer Complaint Unit of the Consumer Affairs Division in the year 2018/2019. My time at NERC provided me with invaluable insights into the energy industry and allowed me to cultivate skills that I am excited to bring to the next chapter of my career. 💡 Why NERC? As one of Nigeria's key regulatory bodies, NERC is pivotal in ensuring that electricity distribution and service delivery meet the highest standards. My role gave me the unique opportunity to interact directly with customers while also contributing to broader organizational objectives. This dual perspective—both operational and customer-facing—has been incredibly enriching. Key Highlights of My Role at NERC!!! During my tenure at NERC, I made significant contributions across several key areas: 1. Personalized Customer Support: As the first point of contact, I effectively managed inquiries and complaints, ensuring prompt and empathetic resolutions for billing, metering, and service-related issues. 2. Research and Strategy Development: I contributed to creating research materials that informed strategies for improving service delivery and enhancing customer satisfaction, sparking my passion for data-driven solutions. 3. Comprehensive Training: Through shadowing and hands-on training, I gained a versatile understanding of office operations, enhancing my adaptability and problem-solving skills. 4. Documentation Management: I streamlined processes by organizing office records and maintaining accurate, easily accessible databases, while also supporting key projects with meticulous documentation and meeting minutes. 5. Stakeholder Collaboration: I worked closely with industry stakeholders, including Distribution Companies (DisCos), to resolve customer concerns, deepening my knowledge of industry standards and cross-functional teamwork. A-Day Summit Conference aimed at motivating Spirit of Leadership of Student Leaders; to helping them “dig out” hidden treasures of Leadership Spirit in their investments of personalities. It was, indeed, a great delight for Purring Foundation, alongside Industry Experts, to meet with Student Leaders of different professional associations of Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) and American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) on University of Lagos (UNILAG) Campus for their 2024 Student Leadership Conference (SLC). This summit was organized to make those students gain sound insights about Energy Industry, and also, deepen ethical capacities highly relevant across different business ecosystems. NCDMB highlights opportunities in oil, gas sector for Nigerians The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) aims to achieve 70% local content in the oil and gas sector by 2027, leveraging presidential directives and upcoming projects in 2025. Speaking at a capacity-building workshop for media stakeholders in Port Harcourt, NCDMB emphasized the media's vital role in amplifying its efforts and promoting opportunities for Nigerians. The Board urged Nigerians to build capacity, register businesses on the joint qualification system, and address capacity gaps to benefit from local content initiatives. The workshop also trained media practitioners to enhance their competencies while discussing how local content directives will boost job opportunities and investments in the sector.
