Sustainable cloud native infrastructure, wherever you need it.

Over ons

At Aknostic we help organizations to run their software reliably, resiliently and sustainably on their clouds. We live and breathe cloud native technology and live by our mission: Sustainable cloud native infrastructure, wherever you need it. We strongly believe it shouldn’t matter which cloud provider/platforms (AWS, Azure or Google cloud) you use, it is even better to be cloud agnostic. To realize this we use Kubernetes, hence our name: Aknostic.

  • Kubernetes is an excellent tool to help you manage and scale your LLM clusters.  But what makes Kubernetes the perfect host? LLMs aren’t just your regular software; they’re insatiable resource hogs. One moment, they’re idling, and the next, they’re choking on a flood of data or user queries. This is where Kubernetes shines. ▶️ Its ability to dynamically scale ensures that when traffic spikes, resources are automatically adjusted to meet the demand without breaking a sweat. ▶️ Its self-healing capabilities mean that even if hardware fails or networks falter, Kubernetes steps in to restart pods and redistribute workloads, keeping everything running smoothly. Moreover, Kubernetes excels at managing the specialized hardware LLMs often require, like GPUs and TPUs. Its precise resource allocation ensures these expensive resources are fully utilized, making it the perfect host for such demanding applications. Curious for more? • We love seeing the increasing enthusiasm for KEIT! KEIT is an open-source tool that helps organizations measure and optimize the environmental impact of their Kubernetes workloads. It provides visibility into cloud-native carbon footprints for data-driven sustainability decisions The left image celebrates our initial KEIT presentation at our office, while the right one captures last Thursday's showcase. Our audience is expanding, and we're incredibly excited about this! 👀 In June, we are planning a meetup in our office. Let's see if we need to move to a bigger meeting room this time. #KEIT #Sustainability #Aknostic

  • Manually deploying to Kubernetes? There’s a better way... With ArgoCD, you can automate deployments, maintain consistency, and eliminate human errors. Here’s the step-by-step process: 1️⃣ Install ArgoCD on a management cluster. 2️⃣ Define application manifests in Git. 3️⃣ Configure ArgoCD to sync your clusters. 4️⃣ Enable automatic rollbacks & drift detection. 5️⃣ Monitor deployments in real-time via ArgoCD UI. Git is the source of truth, and ArgoCD ensures your clusters always match it. Learn more in our e-book, link in the comments. #GitOps #Kubernetes #DevOps

  • The future of LLMs on Kubernetes The potential of LLMs and Kubernetes together is enormous. As the boundaries of technology continue to expand, we can envision a Kubernetes that not only hosts LLMs but also becomes AI-native. Imagine Kubernetes predicting resource needs and optimizing itself in real-time, powered by LLM-driven analytics. Operations could also become simpler and more accessible. Instead of relying on technical expertise, even non-specialists could deploy and manage LLMs with user-friendly tools, eliminating the need for complex configurations. Globally distributed Kubernetes clusters could bring AI-powered services closer to users, enabling ultra-low latency experiences for applications like real-time translation and augmented reality. • Did you know that overprovisioning generates “digital waste”? A 2024 study by Cast AI revealed that Kubernetes clusters utilize only 13% of CPUs and 20% of memory. It's like a car driving around with nobody, nowhere. Shocking, isn't it? Overprovisioning - because it’s easy and safer - has a significant impact: unnecessary energy consumption and emissions and incurring high costs. Just as we have food waste, we have digital waste. We can easily imagine that many applications are over-provisioned because it’s the easiest way to guarantee reliability. And this is not always necessary. Opportunities exist for improvements: measuring, optimizing, and using the right tools to reduce waste. What strategies do you apply to minimize overprovisioning? Share below! #Kubernetes #CloudOptimisation #KEIT
