🚀 OGEL Call for Papers: Special Issue on Space Mining: National and International Regulation for and against Commercial Mining of Outer Space Resources https://lnkd.in/eyHk24Et The rapid evolution of commercial space activities has placed unprecedented pressure on international norms regarding the use and exploitation of outer space resources. With corporations, particularly those from the United States, pushing ahead with space mining ventures, significant questions arise over governance, regulation, and the protection of the common heritage of mankind. We propose a timely and crucial Special Issue in the OGEL Energy Law Journal dedicated to examining the legal, ethical, and geopolitical dimensions of space mining activities occurring outside of established multilateral regulatory frameworks. This issue will focus on the arguments for and against the mining of natural resources based on space bodies and planets. It will particularly interrogate the resistance to unilateral space mining efforts and consider how the international community, including scholars, diplomats, and states, can mobilize to preserve a more equitable and regulated approach. Focus Areas: This special issue invites empirical, sociolegal and critical legal analysis around the topic including the following core topics: 1. Emerging Space Mining Law and Practice 2. Key Actors and Initiatives in Space Mining 3. Organized Resistance and Advocacy 4. Intellectual and Diplomatic Strategies to Counter Commercial Exploitation 5. Dispute Resolution 6. Environmental and sustainability issues arising from space mining operations: 7. Mineral resources and Energy sources that are found in space 8. Analogies and lessons from sustainable and profitable terrestrial mining operations Proposals should be submitted to the editors Prof. Gbenga Oduntan, Prof. Engobo Emeseh, Dr. Alan Reid, and Motolani Fadahunsi-banjo, contact details on the OGEL website. Over ons
The transnational dispute management journal (TDM) and oil gas and energy law journal (OGEL) are innovative and thought provoking journals about international arbitration and energy law. The journals started publishing in 2003 and have since become known for their up-to-date, valuable and engaging contents. The journals bring together academics, judges and in-house counsels and other leading professionals in arbitration: creating a network of people working in the same field, but with different interests. The OGEMID forum is used to engage in discussions between these different groups. OGEMID has managed to become the only discussion platform in the world that provides these valuable insights.

Nearly 14 years after the Government of India (GOI) and Reliance Industries (RIL) locked horns over the Krishna-Godavari (KG) basin gas extraction contract, hearings and arguments have begun in India in the arbitration matter with regard to the recovery of cost. "GOI's claim is related inter-alia to the cost of unproduced gas, excess amount spent on over-engineering, extra amount recovered on account of marketing margin, interest etc," GOI told BW in response to its email query. However, no response was received on the query about the amount it was seeking to recover from RIL. But sources say, the GOI claim could run in billions of dollars. 👉 TDM Law Journal Special on Int'l #Commercial and #Investment #Disputes in and with #India - free excerpt https://lnkd.in/g9ewjQt
