INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee is "officially a free agent," according to his announcement on social media Friday afternoon, as he's saying bye to Barstool Sports and his "Heartland" division of the company in Indianapolis that he spearheaded in 2017.
According to McAfee, the business side of things at Barstool seemed to overshadow the meaning behind Heartland, which he's described as a "mindset."
"It doesn’t matter where you’re from if you work your ass off and love the United States… in our eyes you’re a member of The Heartland," McAfee wrote on the Heartland's Barstool welcome page back in April 2017. He's hosted The Pat McAfee Show on SiriusXM channel Barstool Power 85 Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., which features comedians and Barstool personalities.
McAfee posted on Twitter insinuating that financial decisions became out of his control, and he began being disrespected by the "business people in the building." "Financial decisions were being made for me by people I and never met, deals were getting made AND PULLED without my knowledge."

In his post McAfee said his team at HQ, or "younger folks" are going to be paid a check worth two-months salary if they are left without a job. He also thanked his Heartland team members and credited others at Barstool.
"My time at @barstoolsports will be one I reflect upon fondly," McAfee said. "Sometimes adult stuff gets in the way."
Fans can feel better knowing that McAfee and his friends will still make a podcast a couple times a week and video content for his social media pages, according to his post.
So, as a free agent, just what will the hilarious retired NFL punter do next?
It didn't take long for one member of the Colts to offer him at least a one-time gig.
I have $10 if you would like to run the @colts twitter for me during the home opener @PatMcAfeeShow. https://t.co/93XmnJCIKs
