Will AI one day tell us: Does the universe in which we live is the only one that exists or does God exist? "We are living in very interesting times". - Andrzej Dragan often says. Yesterday he repeated this during the event by Venture Café Warsaw Foundation and a panel on AI, which included Professor Robert Gwiazdowski and Tomek Czajka, among others. I all the time wonder in HOW VERY interesting these times are or can be.... I was delighted to have the opportunity to ask the panelists a question: Will AI, advancing so rapidly, shorten the period between great scientific discoveries in our lifetime? Let me add one comment before I tell you the answer I received: I understand a "scientific discovery" as a grand theory (such as string theory) that is unquestionably recognized by the scientific community as a description of the reality around us. Note that an experiment is sometimes necessary to confirm such a theory. Sometimes the performance of this experiment is beyond the reach of our civilization (we do not have sufficient tools, energy, etc.). In this situation, the theory remains just a beautiful theory - like string theory.... So.. will AI help us to jump over THIS PROBLEM? And if it will help then are we, in effect, in the coming decades, able to get answers to the primordial questions that are beyond our reach as a species: "why is there something and not nothing?" THE ANSWER I got may not have been complete - due to the form of the Q&A and the timing of the meeting which was already 30 minutes longer than it should have been (!) and the question about the meaning of life is not that easy to answer unless you are Woody Allen or the Monthy Python right? However, what I heard was very intriguing. As far as I understood it, Andrzej Dragan agreed with Tomek Czajka's idea that although it is not possible to jump over the problem of the necessary experience confirming the truth of a scientific theory, at the same time it is possible that AI will come up with a SIMPLER WAY (experience or other evidence that experience will replace) to verify the theory. Thus, we will be able to prove in an easier and indisputable way that for example string theory is true.. And this would mean that the times we live in are even more interesting than I thought before this meeting.... #KUDOS to Venture Café Warsaw Foundation for organizing such a wonderful & insightful meeting. And "yes" Professor Robert Gwiazdowski: you should put your "social-science-bar idea" into practice! I am the first to sign up!

Karel's HealthTech Chronicles #13 Dear readers, it's 2:17 a.m. Czech local time—a perfect moment to think about trends in digital healthcare. Today, I'd like to explore the following topics. The process of creating therapies by doctors will change. The time of hospital information systems as passive sources of information has passed. The era of intelligent systems is already on the horizon. Here in Czechia, we skipped one evolutionary step: clinical systems with a Medical Business Intelligence layer. It seems we're leaping directly from passive systems to intelligent ones. Let's now define what intelligent clinical systems mean. First, we need all available data about the patient, which means we must connect data from HIS, LIS, PACS, digital pathology, X-Rays, Ultrasounds, MRIs, CTs, PET/CTs, etc. Once we have this data, we can begin analysis. This analysis will be performed by machines. The long minutes spent reading data and trying to connect the dots are over. Sophisticated analysis will be delivered automatically with probable diagnoses. You, as a doctor, will also receive expert suggestions for therapy planning. You will have powerful tools that visualize problems and benchmark your patient's conditions. Voilà, a real medical digital companion is at your service. It's hard to predict how this will change the current level of medicine. We will have to learn how to use these powerful tools. Will it be about faster or more precise treatments? I am ready to observe the real-life impacts of this new technology. AI-enhanced systems are not sci-fi. They already exist, and the first doctors are beginning to adopt them. Yes, there are many questions, but the trend is clear. We must not forget to also mention functions like voice-to-text. The best results will be achieved once we merge these functions with intelligent AI models. Data handling in healthcare will almost redefine the term 'evidence-based medicine.' It will change clinical trials and the way they are performed. Imagine connecting clinical data with research data. I learned about some great examples of this recently, which I'll try to share with you later. It's time for certain managers in healthcare to add terms like FHIR or OMOP to their vocabulary and to understand precisely what they mean. The European Health Data Space (EHDS) is a great opportunity for Europe to discover the treasure in data. I already see how powerful the impact of this new regulation is on the daily lives of hospitals. It really helps move us forward. It's crucial to recognize that we must standardize and structure data to unleash the full potential of our medical knowledge. I really enjoy discussing healthcare data content management and its use for better care. We must not forget that everything we do in this sphere should benefit the patients. I will be attending several events this year and look forward to meeting all of you who are interested in the topics mentioned above. Good night.

A couple of weeks ago, Kardi Ai achieved MDR Class 2a certification, a significant milestone that has been acknowledged by the Czech medical community and prominent media outlets, including Forbes Czech (article link in the comments). This certification not only validates the hard work and dedication of the team behind Kardi Ai but also paves the way for numerous opportunities for future innovation and growth in cardiac health technology. While this certification is a milestone, Kardi Ai's real impact lies in its ability to transform how we approach heart health. Let's take a moment to explore the journey and progress that have brought us to this point. 📈 Progress in Cardiovascular Disease Treatment It's human nature to focus on negative news, often overlooking the tremendous progress happening around us. In the last 70 years, the average human lifespan has dramatically increased. In 1950, the average lifespan was about 68 years for women and 65 years for men. Today, those numbers have risen to approximately 84 years for women and 79 years for men - a remarkable extension of life by nearly 16 years on average! Cardiac healthcare, in particular, has been a significant contributor to this increase. Despite cardiovascular diseases remaining the leading cause of death globally, advancements in treatment have been saving millions of lives. Over the last 70 years, improvements in cardiac care are estimated to have saved more than 100 million lives worldwide - an achievement that often goes unnoticed in our day-to-day news. 💡Kardi Ai: Innovating for Preventive Cardiac Care My background includes a medical degree and I've seen firsthand the importance of prevention in healthcare. However, the reality is that most healthcare systems are optimized for treatment rather than prevention. With technological advancements - particularly in wearable devices - there's a growing movement toward preventive care. Kardi Ai stands as a shining example of this shift. Their innovative solution combines medical-grade accuracy, wearable comfort, and ease of use, enabling early detection of atrial fibrillation and arrhythmia - anytime, anywhere. With extended operation time and longer sampling capabilities, Kardi Ai dramatically improves early detection rates and saves lives. To date, Kardi Ai has saved more than 220 lives and significantly improved the quality of life for many others in the Czech Republic. 🙏 Thank You, Kardi Ai We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Kardi Ai for their relentless efforts in advancing cardiac healthcare and extending the human lifespan. We are immensely proud to be part of your mission and eagerly anticipate the continued transformative impact you will make in preventive care. #KardiAI #InnovationInHealth #HeartCareMonitoring #MedTech #BCVportfolio #VentureCapital #AI

🔅Have you ever wondered where the electricity powering your home actually comes from? Here's some cool stuff: 🔅ČEPS - The Backbone of the Grid: The Czech Republic's electricity transmission system is operated by ČEPS (Česká Přenosová Soustava), which is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, development, and maintenance of the national transmission grid. 🔅 The high-voltage network in the Czech Republic operates primarily at 400 kV and 220 kV, with 400 kV being the most critical for long-distance transmission and cross-border connections. These high voltage levels are essential for minimizing energy loss during transmission over large distances. 🔅Supergrid Backbone: The 400 kV network forms the backbone of the Czech transmission system. It connects major power plants, including nuclear and coal-fired stations, to the main consumption centers and ensures reliable power supply across the country. 🔅Pioneering Use of Underground Cables: While most of the high-voltage network is above ground, there are strategic sections where underground cables are used, especially in urban areas or environmentally sensitive regions. These cables are heavily insulated and often run in tunnels, highlighting the advanced engineering behind the network. 🔅Transmission Line Design: The high-voltage transmission towers in the Czech Republic are designed to withstand extreme weather conditions, including strong winds, ice loading, and lightning strikes. The towers are also spaced at intervals that optimize the efficiency of power transmission while minimizing environmental impact. 🔅Critical Cross-Border Interconnections: The Czech high-voltage network is a key part of the European interconnected grid. It includes important cross-border lines with Germany, Austria, Poland, and Slovakia. These interconnections enable electricity trade and help maintain grid stability across Europe.

So, a couple of days ago I talked to you about my experiments with PMI Infinity. I hope you have had the chance to try it out by now because I have another recommendation for you, NotebookLM. This one will allow you to load your own media, you'll be the curator of the sources. Think about it as a very good tool to study for a certain topic as it will become "expert" in whatever material you feed into it. It can use text and PDF files, audio files, YouTube videos, Google Docs and Slides and even web sites. You can use up to 50 sources in the current state but it will be more than enough to begin experimenting. After you load all your sources you can use it as a standard LLM but instead looking from all over the net it will, primarily, use your sources and you'll have the perfect study companion! One more feature, it can create a mini podcast based on your questions, you'll have a couple of very realistic hosts discussing your sources based on the questions you submit, think of is as a personalized podcast you can hear when driving or doing some other stuff I'll share with you a sample in the first comment, and the address right here: https://lnkd.in/e96H4zK6
