Exploring the Future of Machine Learning in Control Systems This week, T-engineering had an engaging internal educational presentation on the application of machine learning in control systems. The presentation explored the benefits, such as improved adaptability, predictive capabilities, and enhanced system optimization, as well as the drawbacks, including the need for data, computational resources, and careful implementation to ensure reliability and safety. The session sparked exciting discussions on how T-engineering can further develop in this area by leveraging our expertise, investing in innovation, and collaborating to unlock new possibilities. 🚛🚀 Autonomous Driving Activities in Sweden 🇸🇪 When it comes to autonomous mobility, the U.S. often takes the spotlight with companies like Waymo and Cruise leading large-scale deployments. In Europe, cities like Hamburg are making strides with projects like ALIKE. But what about the Nordics? Let’s turn our attention to Sweden. As a Finn, it’s difficult to admit, but the Swedes are doing excellent work. Sweden has long been a powerhouse in the automotive industry, and it’s no surprise that the country is making notable moves in the autonomous driving space, both in the robotaxi and truck sectors. Personally, I believe their activities in trucking will hit the scene like a thousand volts sooner than later. Here’s an overview of some key activities. But to be honest, one post is not enough to capture all their achievements! 🚚 Global Leaders in Autonomous Freight: ➡️ Einride: This trailblazer has redefined freight automation with its electric and autonomous "Pods." Einride combines AI-driven route optimization with a strong sustainability mission, reducing CO₂ emissions. With growing operations in the U.S. and Europe, Einride is truly one to watch. ➡️ Volvo Autonomous Solutions: Volvo is setting the bar high with its production-ready autonomous trucks for hub-to-hub highway transport. Their solutions focus on sustainability and safety, integrating electrification alongside automation for greener logistics. ➡️ Scania Group’s Autonomous Mining Trucks: Already operational in extreme mining conditions, Scania’s trucks showcase Swedish engineering excellence. These vehicles are designed for safety, efficiency, and sustainability, reinforcing Scania’s leadership in autonomous freight. 🚗 Autonomous Vehicle Pilots and Projects: ➡️ Gothenburg: Volvo Cars’s Drive Me project tested self-driving cars with everyday commuters on public roads, demonstrating real-world feasibility. ➡️ Barkarby: Autonomous shuttles in Barkarby explored shared, electric, and autonomous transport modes, paving the way for smarter urban mobility. 🚎 Driving Innovation: ➡️ T Engineering AB: At the forefront of control systems and electrification for future mobility. Last week’s master’s thesis fair in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design attracted around 300 students in search of the perfect thesis project match. “The master’s thesis fair is an important first contact between students and industry, especially for international master's students who often lack contact with Swedish companies,” says Magnus Ekh, who is in charge of the master's programme in Applied Mechanics and this year's fair. The master’s thesis fair gives master's students the opportunity to meet companies that offer various thesis projects linked to their business. But the fair is not only an opportunity for the students, it also benefits the companies that participate, which Mona Ivarsson from Parker Hannifin Manufacturing Sweden AB confirms. “This is the second time we have participated in this fair and it has been very rewarding. We have had students who have done their thesis projects in collaboration with us thanks to us being here and marketing ourselves, so it has been very positive. This is our way of attracting new talent," she says.
