Safety is at the core of everything we do at Volvo Autonomous Solutions. At VECS 2025 our colleagues Shahrukh, Ehsan and Mikael spoke about some of the different ways we work to create safer transport solutions. Shahrukh Kazmi's keynote focused on how V.A.S. is part of redefining the US freight system with the Volvo VNL Autonomous, built for autonomy with redundancy in critical systems. Ehsan Malayjerdi, PhD, walked the audience through how we use simulations the initial testing ground when developing autonomous trucks. At V.A.S., we leverage simulations as well as real-world testing to ensure our autonomous trucks are safe. Mikael Nyth deep dived into our ongoing partnership with Brønnøy Kalk. By using our autonomous transport solution, Brønnøy Kalk is able to remove people from hazardous environments, operate more efficiently and unlock all the benefits of autonomy. #VolvoAutonomousSolutions #VAS #GuidedBySafety

The Volvo VNL Autonomous, integrated with the Aurora Driver, is transporting cargo in Texas with a Safety Driver on board. Eventually, the plan is for these trucks to operate fully autonomously – without a Safety Driver. Giving the green light to autonomous operations starts with having a closed safety case.
