🚴‍♂️ Cycling to Work: A Journey from Pain to Gain! When I first decided to start cycling to the office, it felt like a bold (and maybe slightly reckless) move. My reasoning was simple: I live close to work, so why not? But the reality hit me on day one; pain in muscles I didn’t even know existed! At that time, it was so bad that I almost needed to take a leave and had a break. 🥴 But I choose not to. Because I had a job to do. Let it be finished first before a proper rest. As days goes, every pedal stroke felt like a test of endurance, and I seriously questioned my decision. But I kept pushing through, telling myself it couldn’t get worse. And guess what? It didn’t, it got better instead. Fast forward to now, and cycling has become part of my daily routine. What started as a painful adjustment has turned into an enjoyable habit. It’s not just about getting to the office anymore; it’s about: ✅ Starting the day with a burst of energy. ✅ Having a quick, efficient daily workout. ✅ Feeling more focused and productive at work. It’s amazing how small lifestyle changes can have such a big impact. Cycling has not only improved my physical health but also boosted my mental clarity. It’s one of those decisions that I’m genuinely proud of sticking to. If you live close to work and are looking for a way to stay active, I highly recommend giving cycling a shot. Personally I prefer writing Kotlin as compared to Swift. Kotlin synthax is more familiar.

How can I manage my situation best possible. Coding in your free time, after 8 hours of warehouse work, seems quite exhausting. Plus fulltime alone daddy, so lot of extra responsibility, so the gap / energi left is quite low. Had to take another job direction for now, untill I will finally land a programming job here in Denmark. If that case is actually possible though, Lol. Do not force yourself to work on the next thing if your energy is low. Do this instead. I must admit that sometimes I don't want to work on a ticket next in the queue. It usually happens to me in the afternoons. I worked on something in the morning, and now I feel like browsing the internet.  On the days I really don't feel like it, I find a small thing that will improve our codebase, like a minor gem update or a needed refactor. I enjoy these things, and even though I should be working on something else, I will be more efficient at doing things I enjoy more. So I do. I can do it because I know that the next day, when I start working, I will pick up that ticket I didn't want to work on the day before. And I will be much more efficient and focused. I didn't expect to say it this soon, but I'm enjoying working with TailwindCSS. I have used it for the AutoProject webapp. And with the help of LLMs, writing TailwindCSS has become quite easy. I often just describe the design I want and ask GPT to come up with the TailwindCSS for it. It works well, most of the times. Just a month or so ago, I talked about how I disliked Tailwind for its very long and verbose CSS classes. Every html element in your code will have a long list of class names to get the required design. I still dislike it, but after trying it more, I felt the productivity gain is worth it. Prior to this, I always preferred writing my own CSS because I wanted the design to be very unique and customized to me. In hindsight, that's still good but it reduced my shipping speed and added unnecessary "figuring it out" and "testing" overhead. I am continuing to write my personal CSS + Component library to factor in that uniqueness, but in the meantime, tailwind looks like an excellent tool to iterate very fast and build great looking UIs. With a stable Tailwind version 4 releasing soon, it looked like the right time to pick it up. In version 4, we can expect: - 10x faster builds - 35% smaller in size - Use of lightning CSS (I'm using this for my personal CSS library too!) - A custom parser that's 2X faster than PostCSS. (They literally designed new data structures to achieve this!) If you have been a skeptic like me, to Tailwind or CSS libraries in general, don't sleep on it. I'm thinking of migrating even TechFlix to TailwindCSS.

A long time ago I decided to take my old, really old, website offline and swap it for a placeholder that just said “Relaunching soon” :-) Soon was an open-ended term haha I had finally found the time and developed a new small and simple website, which I still see as a work in progress. The list still includes: projects and blog. And while I'm at it, I wanted to be the first to start with New Year's goals: Be more active on LinkedIn and X :-) On LinkedIn, I primarily want to post new projects and important news. On X I want to share more of my everyday life, give insights into my work and post tips and tricks about webflow or custom code :) Let's see where the journey takes me! Next Steps: - Webflow Professional Partner application - my portfolio was the last requirement - Building a strong case study. In the meantime, it has become clear to me where I want to develop myself (but more on that at another time) Although I've been able to develop and design many great projects so far, I believe that a case study, in which you have no client restrictions, is the best way to show what you stand for and what you can do. I work a lot with Solana for the last few weeks. It requires quite a paradygm shift to move out from Solidity. For example it took some time for me to figure out, that every tx in Solana is de facto multicall. You could just unite a bunch of instructions and they will behave like an atomic transaction. So, if you are trying to do a bit of uniswap v2 (that's what i'm doing now for my own sake) - you dont need any router, only pair. Just send assets to the pair-controlled addresses with the few instructions and then call one more to swap in the same tx.

Here's what unfolded: -> Frequent Date Changes: The organizers repeatedly altered event dates, causing confusion and impacting students' schedules, financial planning, and mental well-being. -> Lack of Transparency: Poor communication and a failure to address participants’ concerns eroded trust in the hackathon and its organizers. -> Financial Losses: Many students invested in travel and accommodations for Dharamshala, only to find themselves stranded after the abrupt date changes. -> Impact on the Ecosystem: Such mismanagement not only affects individuals but undermines the credibility of hackathons in India. A perfect example of an excellent library with horrible documentation. pros: ✅ a lot of features out of the box ✅ flexible ✅ has large community ✅ framework agnostic - learn once, implement everywhere cons: ❌ styling is a nightmare, if you don't want to pollute global styles, you have to use shadow dom and it's not easy. ❌ if you are trying to implement in any popular framework there is no proper documentation for it. ❌ they are deprecating their react/vue/angular sdks, and pushing web-components. they don't have proper documentation for how to use this web-components with specific framework. For example, how do you style the web-component in react? There is no example. ❌ web-components are not typesafe out of the box, you have to provide the types yourself, they don't mention it in the docs how to do it. but it's the most popular one, it's also well maintained. If you need a lot of variations of sliders and you are a patient person this is a good pick. If you need a simple slider, I recommend build one from ground up. #react #frontend

Don't underestimate the power off chitchat in the office. Anton sent me a message about connecting a copilot to Atlassian Confluence. As far as I know Atlassian already build a plugin themselves or we can do it if we have other needs. 😎 We have already built our own first plugin to Copilot 365 in our test-environment so what is one more? 🤑 Good talk Anton.

The Full Stack Open course offered by the University of Helsinki is such a great value course (and underrated imo). Apart from being the refresher course I much needed I also learned a lot about developing in React Native, CI/CD using GitHub Actions, and e2e tests using Cypress. Highly recommended if you want a refresher or new to fullstack development. The fact that it's offered freely is just a bonus, but what makes it really standout is its high quality up-to-date content and its pedagogical approach.
