As the person behind the scenes talking about how great other people are, I was taken aback by Jakob Wredstrøm asking *me* to be the expert on his show. We talked about how I started my journey in the music industry. Years have passed, and I've learned that to be in the industry isn't just about titles or clout, it's also about staying true to your purpose, a reason that most of us forget. During our conversation, we explored why having a clear and compelling "why" is crucial— it's a reminder of your purpose and the foundation of your mission. As I put it: "If you don't have a compelling why, there's something wrong. The 'why' is what you reflect back on during the hard days. It's the pillar that supports everything." I believe in having the why as the base of everything I do. The how can change, but having a why as an anchor gives the freedom to adapt and innovate. By staying true to our purpose, we can produce impact-led stories that will amplify voices in the industry.

There’s a guy in Sweden who’s one of the most poplar artists on the planet. And you’ve never heard of him. His name is Johan Röhr. He has over 2700 songs via more than 600 different artist profiles. According to Statista these profiles have over 15B streams on Spotify, which would put him just out of the top 100 of all time. I spend a lot of time thinking about how consumer tech changes music & listening habits. Example: Why is a pop song about 3 minutes long? It’s what could fit on an original phonograph, then 45. But this “fake artist” trend is really something. I don’t think anyone had “functional music via aliases is the next growth area” 10 years ago. I also hate the term “fake artist.” Maybe “ghost artist” is better? And for the record, I don’t think there is anything wrong with this. They still need to address value in the market for record labels and artists. Labels have to acquire,record, and pay rolaylties to those reliant on their art to make a living. With audio subscriptions hardly moving in ten years how do we expect to combat cheap Ai infiltration to our trade that the DSPs want us to combat. IMHO margins and subscription prices need examining and DSPs (there are only 5 major one’s globally) need to improve there financial offering back to the industry sources that provide them with their stock in trade.

Making music is what inspires us to become artists. Writing a new song or creating a new beat is a feeling like no other. It's why we pour all of our spare time and extra cash into making music. But it also comes with some major challenges & downsides. We think making good music is enough, but it never is. An audience will always want more. More new songs, more content, more and more and more. But what we view as "more" isn't the only thing we can deliver. More can mean QUALITY instead of quantity. If you give deeper context, and create a world where your music lives, that's also 'more'. It doesn't have to be post after post or song after song all the time. More can simply mean deeper. What does deeper look like? A brand an audience will want to support and share. So dive deeper into what being an artist means to you and what kind of community you want to build, and let that be 'more'. Be the artist, not just the face behind the music.

What happens in a western shootout on set. The first 9 minutes of this video you will see some of the staging for the "Open Range" shootout. If you read about the "Rust" trial next week, you will hear experts say things that you do not do with firearms. Most experts have not been on set, and in this video you will see a lot of things that make you think "he just pointed a revolver at a little girl." The difference in film versus real life is, yes we point firearms at people on set, the difference is producers who understand the roles of Property Masters and Armourers will seek out the best to be on their sets and will look at film credits, not tax credits on a resume. We filmed the "Open Range" shootout for 12 days straight flawlessly and in my career as a Property Master I have had actors fire over 500,000 rounds on westerns with zero incidents. In this video the mystery of Kevin fanning 8 shots out of his revolver. My answer always was, he had two revolvers, but in the film edit they did not show the switch, but this behind the scenes does.
