Here's What We Discussed: What is @ebisu_finance? • Ebisu Finance is a DeFi protocol focused on unlocking the value of restaked collateral. • It allows users to engage in liquid restaking, enabling them to access loans or participate in yield farming using their restaked assets. • This reduces the opportunity cost between providing security and earning DeFi yields. Managing Risk: • Over-Collateralization: Loans are over-collateralized to ensure safety, minimizing the risk for borrowers in case of slashing events within the restaking network. • Ebisu Finance manages risk by underwriting Actively Validated Services (AVS) risk through the evaluation of slashing conditions. • Safer LRTs (backed by more secure AVS) can access higher loan-to-value (LTV) ratios, while riskier ones get lower LTV to protect against liquidation. What’s Next? Ebisu Finance's Ebisu Money, a protocol that allows users to borrow stablecoins in USD or ETH against their LRTs, is live on testnet. The mainnet launch is planned for later this year. OKX has officially launched its public mainnet for X-Layer, its innovative Ethereum-based Layer-2 (L2) network, the crypto exchange giant announced on Tuesday. This development comes amid a growing trend of major crypto companies building their own L2 solutions to address scalability limitations on the #Ethereum mainnet. Ethereum, the leading blockchain platform for decentralized applications (dApps), has struggled with scalability issues for some time. This translates to slow transaction speeds and high fees, hindering user experience and hindering wider adoption of dApps. Several #L2 solutions are emerging, each with its own approach. OKX's X-Layer positions itself as a strong contender in this space. Built with Polygon Labs's Chain Development Kit (CDK), X-Layer leverages zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs, a technology that allows for verification of transactions without revealing all the underlying data. This translates to faster and cheaper transactions while maintaining the security of the Ethereum blockchain. Additionally, X Layer will be joined by other chains powered by Polygon CDK via the AggLayer. Connecting to the AggLayer allows seamless transition of liquidity between X Layer and these other chains, thus bolstering X Layer's overall community size and access to liquidity.

Why didn't Cube build a simple exchange like everyone else? Instead, we opted for a more complex structure with MPC vaults, guardians, and advanced cryptography. Here's why. 👇 Cube’s design starts with separating the exchange from custody and settlement, inspired by traditional finance. In traditional finance, exchanges, prime brokerages, clearinghouses, and depositories like DTC operate separately. Each has distinct roles in the trading lifecycle. Cube’s exchange focuses solely on price discovery, matching, and trading. It doesn’t handle asset custody or settlement. Instead of storing assets on the exchange, Cube uses a decentralized custody and settlement layer operated by a network of independent guardians. Users create MPC (Multi-Party Computation) vaults with the guardians, ensuring assets are always stored securely in these vaults. When transactions occur, the exchange recognizes assets in the custody layer and matches orders, reifying them back to the guardians and the blockchain. This structure ensures that the exchange cannot unilaterally move assets, providing a secure and transparent trading environment. 🌐 🔒

Easily the best, simplified summary of why people use stablecoins: "...a single stablecoin can serve a different purpose depending on jurisdiction. For instance, in high-inflation nations like Zimbabwe and Nigeria, stablecoins have been adopted as alternative means of payment, remittances, and stores of value assets. Meanwhile, in advanced economies, stablecoins are widely used to fund cryptocurrency purchases." What do these use cases have in common? Both groups are using stablecoins to hedge their risk against a more volatile currency or cryptocurrency. Many people - especially from large financial institutions in major-currency economies - have long said volatility was the biggest problem with cryptocurrencies. But volatility relative to what? It's much easier to see the utility of crypto when you're dealing with friction resulting from relatively extreme volatility. This is why so many payments experts from Southeast Asia and who operated in a pre-Euro Europe caught onto crypto much faster than their friends in the US and Canada. These are also both 'cross-border' transactions - moving value between markets or networks with high friction around money movement, mostly due to financial regulations. Stablecoins make it easier to access previously closed-off markets, whether USD in a bank, or BTC on a blockchain. It took me longer than I'd like to admit to appreciate the potential for stablecoins, but am excited to see how they're doing incredible work to make financial markets more open and accessible. Watch how Circle and Tether.to brought the space to where it is today, and how newcomers like Ripple, Ethena Labs, and Versal, Inc. are bringing it forward.

Stablecoins with yield blessed by ADGM. Note that yield payments are conditional on the reserve being greater than coins in circulation. The impetus is to stop eventual competition over yield-sharing, leading to greater risk taking on the reserves. Frank opinion about Token2049 and Solana Breakpoint in Singapore. Token2049 revealed that crypto projects are ready to collaborate with institutional players using centralized approaches. I expect that in many cases, this trend will transform altcoins, originally issued with decentralized narratives, into memecoins. However, I'm bullish about such market transformation as it's a sign of long-term institutional adoption. Blockchain will be the tech for trustless interactions in a modern world where globalization faces emerging challenges. What about Solana Breakpoint? I saw more memecoins during Token2049 than at Breakpoint. Thousands of SMEs with burning eyes were discussing what to build and how to monetize user attention. If the Solana team handles tech and product challenges, they have a chance to become a real consumer layer. What's mutual for Token2049 and Breakpoint? Both institutional and consumer ecosystems need Stargazer's Graph OLAP to process interconnections across fragmented chains and applications. LFG!
