It's an interesting move here in Singapore. Although it is indeed true that OTP's are open to Phishing, any solution is open to abuse without context. Scams and APPF don't rely on access to accounts like many phishing attacks do. A lack of context however really doesn't help. This move could also cause a two-tier security system as consumers not using a mobile phone are likely going to have to rely upon FIDO 2.0 based solutions which do not include "What You Sign Is What You See" capabilities as it has been targeted towards passwordless authentication. Mobile banking Apps do not need to rely on this standard and can augment FIDO's UAF standard to provide much-needed context. There are other solutions but they require additional drivers to work on Windows or Mac OS-based systems. Unfortunately, financial fraud, much like water, will follow the path of least resistance, so while I welcome the move to reduce phishing etc I would temper that with the expectation to add more context for customers! https://lnkd.in/eyx75KZY
