General Hospital is good for what ails you — unless, of course, you’re one of the resurgent ABC soap’s characters. In that case, yikes, we feel for ya! Since the daytime drama made its debut on April Fool’s Day 1963, the denizens of fictional Port Charles, NY, have been stricken with countless maladies, beset by the Mafia and suffered more broken hearts than even OG chief-of-staff Steve Hardy could mend. Heck, they’ve even endured a mad plot to freeze the world! Yet they keep coming back for more, and so do viewers. Maybe the lot of us are equally addicted to the suspense, knowing as we do that around any given corner of Port Charles could lurk grave danger or true romance.
