The Bombay High Court has directed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to resolve the issues between the Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) and the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) over the former’s membership.

In July 2021, after BCCI denied associate membership to TCA, it urged HCA to collaborate with TCA to help the growth and development of cricket in Telangana. However, with no progress on the issue, a division bench of Justices Revati Mohite-Dere and Dr. Neela Gokhale asked the central cricket body to ensure there was a ‘logical end’ to the issue.

“We do not understand the role of the BCCI in all this. You passed an order in July 2021 and today we are in March 2025, yet no decision is taken. Why can’t you ensure that your order is duly complied with? You have to be conscious about your order and ensure it is taken to its logical end. You can make them sit across the table and resolve the dispute,” the judges said last week.

“The idea is to get the best players, right? How will we get talent if this is the situation? We think the BCCI needs to put its house in order. BCCI must act and it cannot be just a spectator.”

TCA general secretary Dharam Guruva Reddy said that he is looking forward to a positive end to the matter. “The Bombay High Court is trying to do justice to Telangana cricketers, they are serious about it, and I am sure we will get a favourable order,” he told  Sportstar.
