Rakshit Shetty has dedicated three years on the Sachin-directorial Avane Srimannarayana, a time that now seems justified, given that the makers are giving it a larger platform by releasing it as a five-language film in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
The film is an ambitious project for the makers and they are now gearing up to present it to their target audiences, starting with a simultaneous launch of the trailer in all these languages on November 28.
Filmmaker
Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah tells us that when Rakshit and the team release the Kannada trailer, actors
Dhanush,
Nani and
Nivin Pauly will do the honours for the other versions, which will be live streamed at the event on Thursday.
Overwhelmed at the support he has received, Rakshit says, “I am grateful to Dhanush, Nivin and Nani. Nivin has been a great friend, who not only agreed to launch the trailer, but also helped us make inroads in the Malayalam film industry, by arranging meetings with film distributors, etc. When I called Nani recently, he was extremely sweet. I think he knew I would call, because as soon as he picked up, even before I asked, he agreed to launch the trailer and said it would be his pleasure, as he would get to see it first. I haven’t spoken to Dhanush yet, as he is held up with a busy schedule, I am really looking forward to interacting with him,” says Rakshit.
Excited about taking his work to other languages, Rakshit says, “Personally, it has been a great journey, from starting out with short films to working on a mega project like this. I am positive that this will take me places.”
With Kannada films going multilingual, what does he think the future seems like for the industry? “I truly hope that someday, regardless of the language, every film will be watched on the basis of credibility, and subtitles will help overcome language barriers. At present, there are certain steps that we need to take to reach there. In that sense, dubbing Kannada films seems like the apt way to create awareness among other audiences about the good content available here. This will help the industry grow further,” he explains. With December 27 finalised as the release date, Rakshit shares that he is a tad bit nervous. “I’m nervous, not stressful nervous, though, because I have watched the film and, working on this project, I have had the experience I wanted to have. I know this is a good film. I’m looking forward to the audiences’ response to the project. When they love the film, the experience will feel complete,” he signs off.
