According to a report by the British Chamber of Commerce in Taipei, women account for 26% of the workforce in Taiwan's offshore wind industry, surpassing both global and Asia-Pacific averages. More notably, 95% of companies in the sector have female executives, while 60% employ women in mid-to-senior management positions. These figures are more than mere statistics—they represent the vital contributions of women to Taiwan's green transition. EnergyOMNI Media #ExclusiveColumn A Seafaring Incident Featured in Time Magazine By Wen-Kwo Tien In August 1983, while serving as Chief Engineer on the M/V Ever Humanity, I disembarked in Osaka, Japan, to join the crew of the M/V Ever Oasis. During a routine drydock repair at the Hakodate Shipyard, Captain Hsieh-Te Li —an alumnus of the Wu Song Merchant Marine Academy—handed me a copy of Time magazine. He pointed out that the report on page 11 detailed how the Ever Oasis had rescued a freighter, the Cloud, off the coast of Ghana in West Africa. According to the rescued vessel's captain, a fire in the engine room forced the entire crew and their captain to abandon ship, boarding lifeboats. The Ever Oasis, en route from South Africa to Germany, happened to pass by. Taiwan Renewable Energy Association (TREA) convened its inaugural sixth session of the Board of Directors and Supervisors meeting along with the second General Assembly of Members. In response to MOEA's proposal to promote the "Low-Carbon Electricity #RE30" classification management, the association expressed concerns over three major issues. They warned that the program might even foster suspicions of "#greenwashing" by blending fossil-based power with green energy, and could result in increased carbon emissions for companies and general consumers not participating in the scheme—thereby severely undermining the resale electricity market and international competitiveness. Ørsted announces today that the commencement of offshore construction for the Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms, a landmark project delivering 920 MW of clean energy, supporting the corporate customer in achieving its decarbonisation goal while significantly contributing to Taiwan's energy transition. Located 35-60 km off the coast of Changhua County, Greater Changhua 2b and 4 were awarded in June 2018 as part of Taiwan's first competitive price-based auction, which had no mandatory local content requirements. In July 2020, Ørsted signed a 20-year fixed-price corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) for the corporate customer to offtake the full production of the wind farms. https://lnkd.in/gt5zEAuq

In Offshore Wind Zonal Development Phase II, a total of 5 entities were allocated. All 5 (Yuanta, Formosa 6, Fengmiao 2, Haiding 1_Formosa 3-site 11, DeShuai) submitted contract applications to MOEA on November 11 last year, with one entity having completed the contract signing.
