Mark of Excellence Endoscopy Services: Go for AACI Platinum Medal of Certification Vietnamese Federation for Digestive Endoscopy (VFDE) was established in 2011 and there are now more than 2,000 endoscopists in Vietnam. ERCP was first performed in 1993. Currently, there are more than 15,000 cases of ERCP per year. Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) has been widely used since 2012, and there are about 30 EUS systems in Vietnam. Perhaps 95% of the 800,000 endoscopy procedures per year in Vietnam are straightforward diagnostic procedures. Having such common procedures, ECRI Institute put cross-contamination from flexible endoscopes on the list of the top ten technology hazards for the past 3 years – it’s a sign that cross-contamination from improperly reprocessed endoscopes remains a significant and serious concern. Reasons for Endoscope- related Infections: (1) Failure to follow established reprocessing Guidelines, (2) Inadequate cleaning, (3) Improper selection or dilution of disinfecting agents, (4) Inadequate staff training and quality assurance, (5) Failure to use proper equipment during reprocessing. AACI has developed this clinical standard based on its long experience and the most common nonconformities raised during the last 15 years in the endoscopy units all around the world. The objective of this standard is to provide guidelines for precleaning, leak-testing, cleaning, storage, high-level disinfecting, and/or sterilizing of flexible gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopes, flexible bronchoscopes, surgical flexible endoscopes (e.g., flexible ureteroscopes), and semi-rigid operative endoscopes (e.g., choledochoscopes) in health care facilities. These standards are intended to provide comprehensive information and direction for health care personnel in the processing of these devices and accessories. [Monthly People Reporter Yoo Ji-yeon] With the number of diabetes patients in Korea exceeding 6 million, according to an in-depth report on diabetes management indicators based on the National Health and Nutrition Survey of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the treatment rate and recognition rate are significantly lower for those in their 30s and 40s. According to the data presented by the Korean Diabetes Association in 2020, about 15.83 million people in the pre-diabetes stage, which is at high risk of developing diabetes, were at the level of fasting blood glucose or glycated hemoglobin. Diabetes can start with mild symptoms and be considered insignificant at first, but it is also a chronic metabolic disease that requires constant management because various complications can occur. However, the associations of HBV mediated etiologies have not been well documented. This study investigated the relationship between the three most clinically relevant IL28B SNPs (rs8099917, rs12980275, and rs12979860) with the risk of HBV/HCV infection and HCC development within Vietnamese HBV carriers. By using kinetics and allele specific real-time PCR, the study demonstrated holders of the T/G allele at SNP rs8099917 were less susceptible to HBV/HCV infection. Notably, HBV carriers with the SNP rs8099917 T/G allele were at lower risk of being transformed into HCC. ### Chinese Hospital's CAR-T Therapy Saves the Life of a Ph+ Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Patient | Successful Case from The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University On November 7, 2023, China's first CAR-T product for treating adult leukemia, Yuan Ruida (Inaticabtagene Autoleucel Injection), was officially approved for market release. This marks a significant breakthrough in the field of leukemia cellular immunotherapy in China. Recently, The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University successfully treated a young patient with Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), demonstrating the remarkable efficacy of this innovative therapy. **Successful Case** The patient, a 20-year-old female, was diagnosed with Ph+ B-ALL in early 2021.
