"Across government, outdated digital systems remain a key source of inefficiency and a major barrier to modernising services. It's estimated that 28% of systems in central government departments are legacy systems" To achieve true transformation and deliver the desired outcomes for digital public services, government must first modernise its legacy infrastructure. Discover how taking a legacy-aware and future-aware outcome mapping approach can help to unlock the potential of digital and AI in the public sector.: https://ow.ly/RBz950VpwMu #ImpactThatLasts #BaringaDigitalAI #UKGovernment #InnovationInGovernment #DigitalTransformation

Recent developments in the geopolitical environment, announcements in the Spring Statement and The Bank of England maintaining interest rates, increase the likelihood of moving towards our downside-case for consumer spending growth. If this materialises, there would be significant implications for spend across categories. For example; Out of home entertainment shows the greatest increase in our central case at c.2.2%, but is also one of the more elastic categories, dropping to c.1.4% growth in the downside case. These differences in percentage terms are driven by asymmetric discretionary spending growth of different consumer segments and their relative propensity to spend on product categories associated with their income, geography, age and family composition. Our insights are derived from the Baringa Consumer Spending Model, which analyses expenditure patterns for 28 million UK households across three distinct economic scenarios. In our Consumer Spending report, we divided different demographics into four consumer segments and then modelled their growth rate and resilience to economic downside. 1. Predictable premiums. Groups with high spend growth in our central case, as well as high resilience to our downside case due to low spending elasticity. 2. Growth bets. Groups with high spend growth, but low resilience to our downside case due to high spending elasticity. 3. Safe havens. Groups with low spend growth, but high resilience to our downside case. 4. Low opportunity. Groups with low spend growth and low resilience to our downside case. We then analysed where we see the highest proportions of each segment across the UK. Understanding the geographical spread of different consumers allows retailers and CPGs to focus execution in locations that align with their growth trajectories. Our insights are derived from the Baringa Consumer Spending Model, which analyses expenditure patterns for 28 million UK households across three distinct economic scenarios.
