Blackpool joined cities from the UK and across the world as part of the Place North delegation to pitch investment opportunities in our town to help create more jobs for local people. Many investors were very interested in Blackpool opportunities and we'll now work hard to convert those conversations into local investment and jobs. DFNProject SEARCH, part of Blackpool Learning Rooms, is a supported internship programme for young people aged 16-24 with learning disabilities and/or autism. They receive support from a dedicated team, including family/carers, a job coach, and a tutor. The interns undertake work placements with local employers to boost their skills and gain work experience. We're looking for young people interested in joining Project SEARCH, and local employers to provide work placements. • 𝗕𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱 • The red line for the first phase of the central housing regeneration area has been agreed. Last year we were awarded £90 million from the Central Government via Homes England to address the significant issue of housing quality in the inner areas of Blackpool. The funding means that comprehensive housing regeneration can take place and transform the area with modern, affordable housing and local amenities. Parts of Ashton Road, Central Drive, Chadwick Street, Erdington Road, Grasmere Road, Harrison Street, Kent Road, Montrose Avenue, Princess Street, Rigby Road, Rydal Avenue and Salthouse Avenue are all within the redline boundary. Please see the map. Those that are directly affected by this decision and are within the boundary will have received a hand delivered letter with information and next steps. There will be no immediate change, this is a long term regeneration scheme and the houses within the area will not be required immediately. This is an ambitious long term regeneration programme that will take time. Identifying this 1st phase area means that the council can start to actively look to buy land and property by agreement. There is no compulsory purchase in place. Support will be available to those that need it and want it. Drop in sessions are being set up for those directly affected.
