What a fantastic day with the CxO Institute yesterday, at Royal Ascot - the perfect venue for multi-style events. We had keynotes, panels, fireside chats, boardrooms, facilitated one-to-one meetings and networking. For me, the key points I took away from the event were: ⚫The importance of an educated C-Suite; they need to be aware of the technological landscape. And what's coming. ⚫The crucial requirement to develop teams who are financially and politically savvy, in addition to their core IT/Engineering role. ⚫The critical element of culture and engagement; the human element cannot be underestimated. It remains the number one strength and weakness in the deployment and maintenance of effective IT and OT systems. ⚫Data is the answer; but it is also the problem. Effective use of verified, reliable data can transform an organisation. ⚫Providing your employees with Accountable Freedom. In my terms, this relates to Active Followership and Mission Command (give the 🇬🇧 Centre for Army Leadership a follow). ⚫The rise of the bot - it takes under 2 minutes to clone my voice and 7 minutes to clone my likeness. 😯 No-one wants that... ⚫War-gaming scenarios and threat-response is key; as is providing a safe space to practice and learn lessons. But the day's events were only the start of the journey; any event is only as good as the follow-up. I'll be having ongoing engagements with many of the people and companies I met with yesterday and I hope all of the high-value delegates will be doing the same in the coming days and weeks.
