🚨 NEW: Expert FHIR Training is now available with Rik Smithies 📅 Starting 28 April and consisting of four half days, the course offers a hands-on overview of the content of the HL7 FHIR standard and is aimed at those involved with the design, development, implementation, deployment and support of systems that use (or will use) the standard. On completion of the course, attendees will be able to: ▶️ Explain the key principles underlying the FHIR methodology. ▶️ Describe the characteristics and contents of the core FHIR information models. ▶️ Understand how to fully use the documentation and how to reach out to other experts and implementers. ▶️ Explain how FHIR may be used in different interoperability paradigms (REST, messaging, e-documents, services). ▶️ Explain the relationship between FHIR and related standards (e.g. HL7 CDA/HL7 v2/IHE XDS). ▶️ Build upon hands-on experience with FHIR gained during the training course. ▶️ Help their organisation to determine if, when, where and how they might implement FHIR. HL7 UK reposted this
Sophie Lowsley and the Interweave team are proud to share a practical example of how we have applied FHIR with HL7 UK, the global authority on standards for interoperability of health technology.
🚨 NEW: In this highly practical use case, discover how Interweave has successfully applied FHIR to address health and social care data interoperability and standardisation challenges for UK health and care providers. Interweave aimed to tackle several common challenges that impact data sharing for health and social care: ▶️ Data interoperability: how do you ensure smooth data exchange between disparate systems, including legacy technology? ▶️ Standardisation: how do you establish a common language to represent health and social care data? ▶️ Security: how do you protect sensitive patient information? See how the team used FHIR to support its objectives and provide a foundation for collaboration and innovation: https://lnkd.in/eQZ5r-TY #FHIR #Interoperability With thanks to Sophie Lowsley & the Interweave team

In Australia, enabling greater interoperability by using a standard such as FHIR is 'essential to ensuring that all available information about a patient can flow seamlessly through different care settings and be accessible to other healthcare providers in real-time', writes Farhoud Salimi, Chief Technology Officer of Telstra Health. Just as in the UK, seamless information flow can enhance patient outcomes with more accessible and actionable data. FHIR is key to achieving the global aspiration to connect care. https://lnkd.in/e3KhnDHk via TechDay Australia

HL7 International will launch a new FHIR Accelerator community to promote health device interoperability. The community will support everything from ICU monitors and surgical equipment to personal health and wellness devices. The initiative will build on years of work in device informatics standards and aim to create a seamless, interoperable ecosystem that will bridge information-sharing gaps and enhance patient care. As Charles Jaffe, MD, PhD, CEO of HL7 International, stated: “For many years, the lack of consensus standards for the exchange of device data has been a tremendous burden on the delivery of patient care. This newest device interoperability implementation community will join the eight existing HL7 FHIR Accelerators on the journey to seamless interoperability and ultimately to better care for our patients." The initiative will collaborate with leading organisations such as IEEE, ISO - International Organization for Standardization, and others. Several key industry players - including Philips, BD, Dräger, and HIMSS - have already expressed strong interest. How is #FHIR transforming care across the UK? In this case study from our friends at Interweave, read how NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) is using FHIR for data sharing between health and social care. Results include: 👉 Fewer admin burdens for adult social care, hospice services and primary care 👉 More efficient ambulance transfers of care 👉 More accessible end-of-life wishes, reducing unnecessary admissions For further details and to see how NHS Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland ICB are sharing data to aid patient-centred care, read the full case study: https://lnkd.in/eQZ5r-TY #FHIR #Interoperability #HealthIT #SocialCare
