The theme for #worldautismawarenessday today is 'advancing neurodiversity', and at Hogrefe we pursue that goal each day. We build assessment tools to help health care practitioners in the diagnosis of autism itself, yes, but we also publish much-needed assessment and intervention support tools both pre- and post-diagnosis to ensure continuing care. Please click to read Hogrefe's perspective on neurodiversity in psychological assessment, and how we aim to embrace our role within this with concrete action. https://lnkd.in/e9qcqvvJ

Very excited to be attending Praxis Live in July with our trusty SpLD assessment toolkit in tow! Sarah Sainty and Jaimie Banks are working on their ‘WRIT alternatives’ song and dance for the occasion 😉
We filled all the places for Praxis Live but sadly it left some people disappointed...so we upgraded to a bigger room (not too big- we still want a nice size group, but we want some space to move) and almost all of those have gone too! Just 3 spaces left and then we are definitely full.... we'll operate a wait list after that incase anyone needs to sell their ticket. It's for Praxis Pro members, Live in Birmingham at the BCEC, 2 mins from New Street. If you fancy it, ask your boss to release you for the day- they will benefit from having an inspired, up to date assessor on their team who has returned to work with a bounce in their stride and some new ideas about how to implement the new format. If you're self employed, Praxis Live is tax deductible, and you will reap the rewards from the support you'll receive on the day to complement your new format training and Praxis Pro membership. We've been asked to live stream for those unable to attend but there are 2 reasons why we've decided not to: 1. Cost. We want to keep the ticket price reasonable 2. Our delivery style! This isnt a conference. It's a mix of presentation, discussion, activities and workshops. It's impossible to record and stream this is any meaningful way. Most of the time you'd just be watching people talking to each other or with their heads down completing an activity together. Really great if you are there, not so much if you are watching remotely! So, if you want to come along and benefit from all we are offering, and you are a Praxis Pro member, now is the time! The day is led by our Founder, Sally-Ann Morrison, and co-presented by the wonderful Jen McDermott (SpLD Consultant and SASC Director), and the incredible Sarah Sainty (Assessment Consultant, Hogrefe UK). Thanks to Jaimie Banks and Hogrefe UK, you will be able to get hands on with new tests like IDS2, TOD, TOC2, RIAS2 and more. Surely the best CPD opportunity around? And even better, it's in person! You will strengthen your professional network for sure... oh, and did we mention the informal dinner you'll be invited to the evening before? It's not all about work- we like to have fun along the way too! Praxis Pro people, if you are hovering, now is most definitely the time.....3 places remaining....Come and join us!

Did you know? 5% of the UK population are believed to have an acquired brain injury (ABI). Regardless of the cause, ABI can lead to a wide range of challenges but also strengths that are unique to each individual. With the help of neurorehabilitation, support and therapy, people with ABI can often make significant progress in recovering lost functions or developing compensatory strategies and abilities. 🔗 Learn why the Short Parallel Assessments of Neuropsychological Status – Extended (SPANS-X) is ideally suited to assessing patients following a brain injury: @headway_uk

One of the things we most consistently hear from practitioners using the Intelligence and Development Scales, 2nd Edition (IDS-2) is how pleasantly surprised they are that kids have… well, *fun* taking the assessment. Part of the benefit of the IDS-2 is the inclusion of manipulatives, which make testing more dynamic - and the modular design means there is no single approach to how the assessment must be presented. Want to learn more? Our next IDS-2 webinar is on 25 February for users new to the measure; it covers 'administering and scoring with confidence': https://lnkd.in/e7RT6ub8

So pleased that our session on HiPos yesterday was so well attended; Maria Gardner and Liz Hey's look at identifying and developing High Potential was, as Melissa Chester so succinctly puts it, 'like coming home to the principles that underpin our field.' Keep watch for our next session 👀
Co-founder 80Twenty | Certified Principal Business Psychologist | EMCC Accredited Coach and Team Coach at Senior Practitioner level | FCIPD
Thank you to Liz Hey and Maria Gardner for a brilliant session yesterday on identifying and developing HiPos. What stood out most for me was the importance of helping clients distinguish between potential, performance, and promotability—concepts often muddled together. And that organisations willing to take a fresh look at how they identify HiPos and are ready to challenge some of their assumptions could reveal hidden talent and end up driving inclusion in a meaningful way. The session also highlighted something powerful for me at a time when there is so much noise around DEI, and that's that evidence-based approaches, such as well designed HiPo programmes, are inclusive by design. An important reminder on the value of the work we do as business psychologists - it's often the work that isn't always visible and requires ongoing care and maintenance, but it's what shifts the dial. Thanks for sparking these reflections—this session felt like coming home to the principles that underpin our field. 80Twenty Limited
