We bought our Education & Outreach, and University Engagement worlds together to create an event, welcoming 100 female-identifying secondary students in the morning, and 100 female-identifying university students in the afternoon. Our team are passionate about making sure our outreach engages underrepresented groups in our industry, aiming to diversify future talent pipelines across our apprentice, undergraduate and graduate programmes. They were able to learn through inspirational JLR panellists, from current apprentices through to chief engineers, sharing their journeys and insights into women working in automotive. Students also engaged in collaborative group activities and networking conversations, discovering more about the innovative work we do at JLR.

Bridget Phillipson, Secretary of State for Education, and Minister for Women & Equalities, joined us for our #InternationalWomensDay celebrations – after recognising JLR as an employer in the UK that is leading the way in championing gender equality. We had the opportunity to share more about our progressive and industry-leading policies and initiatives that are helping women to thrive in the workplace. These include our 52-week maternity leave package with full pay, our comprehensive menopause policy, and our new luxury workwear, where options on offer include a hijab and temperature-regulating clothing. The Secretary of State also met with some of our female colleagues across the business taking part in a speed networking event at our Gaydon HQ. Over the past few years, we’ve made huge progress in our efforts to drive gender equality at JLR. This #IWD25, we reflect on how far we’ve come yet recognise our commitment to continue to strive to be a place where everyone feels respected, valued and cared for. #JLR #Reimagine #IWD #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #AcceleratingAction Office for Equality and Opportunity

With JLR products available in a variety of international markets, it’s imperative we take a global approach to the luxury vehicles and services we provide our clients. Kalpana Gosai, Charging Attribute Chapter Lead, manages a team of 10 engineers. “We’re essentially the voice of the client. If a client wants to charge in 20 minutes, my role is to convert their wants and needs into actionable SI units (International System of Units) to allow that to happen, such as measurement time, temperature, voltage, current and power. We’re continuously considering what the client wants and working as a team to make our clients’ experiences easy and seamless. “When you're charging, the car is stationary, but you charge in the most personal place to you - your home. So, you have to almost imagine what it’s like living there. What's my electricity supply? What's my fuse box rated to? There are so many variables we must consider in order to curate the optimum home charging experience for individual market needs. "I have to visualise myself as a client and think is the system we've created right for the German client, the Spanish client and the American client? It’s vital to have that global perspective and understanding our clients is fundamental to providing them with a tailored service.” May 2025 marks 25 years since Kalpana joined JLR; “I've been working on EV charging since 2012, originally as a research engineer and then on the cabling side. All our plug-in hybrids right now are driving around with my component. Then I went into power electronics component design development, validation testing and delivery, before working on the electromechanical connections and devices design of the new Range Rover Electric.” Kalpana added: “We have to be nimble and innovative. But our main focus is always that we offer our clients the best charging experience, regardless of where they are in the world.” #JLR #Reimagine #Electrification #IWD25 #IWD #EmployeeAppreciationDay #WorldEngineeringDay #WED2025

We are proud to introduce the JLR Foundation. A new charity established to support and empower children and young people to reach their full potential and drive positive change in society as leaders of tomorrow. JLR has pledged up to £2.5M to the JLR Foundation this year, which it will use to make grant awards to charitable organisations and NGOs to help them deliver initiatives that champion equity and support disadvantaged young people by providing access to opportunities, resources and educational experiences. Aligned with our Reimagine strategy, setting up the JLR Foundation builds on our long-standing commitment to youth development and education initiatives and strengthens the positive impact we can have in the communities we operate in. JLR is proud to announce the completion of successful scaled trials with Novelis using a new aluminium skin alloy that's up to 85% recycled and up to 95% more energy efficient to produce. Pioneering the use of this new material on a production vehicle leads the industry and paves the way for more sustainable aluminium in our next generation luxury vehicles. Meeting the highest standards in quality and performance is imperative, and extensive testing has proven the new aluminium alloy can be used to replace material currently used to make our front door outers, without compromise. Circularity. Innovation. Collaboration. Three things central to Reimagine and our sustainability journey. #Reimagine #Innovation #Circularity

At JLR, the transition to electrification is integral to our #Reimagine strategy. But our transformation extends beyond our vehicles; it encompasses a culture shift, continuous training and meticulous detail to ensure we are curating the ultimate electric experience for our clients. Edward Wilson, Lead Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) Test Engineer based at our Gaydon HQ, plays a vital role in driving innovation in electric technology by ensuring that every component of our electric vehicles, from high-voltage inverters to electric motors, meets optimal quality and safety standards before reaching the market. Edward said: “Would you attempt to drive a petrol or diesel vehicle 30 miles with the fuel light on? Would you attempt to drive 30 miles when your vehicle says ‘CHARGE NOW’? I truly believe continuous learning and innovation are essential for tackling the future of engineering.” From enduring temperatures of -20℃ during his most recent testing trip in Sweden, to scorching desert conditions in the UAE, Edward’s engineering expertise takes him to various testing locations to ensure JLR’s vehicles perform to optimum performance and capability, regardless of where in the world they are driven. This commitment to international standards ensures JLR’s dedication to quality is paramount. “Being able to experience our products in such a harsh environment is amazing; driving over a frozen lake on 30cm of ice has you feeling all sorts of emotions! Seeing the fleet in these conditions really showcases their capabilities; it's fantastic to see them tackle arduous terrain as intended, instead of just cruising down the M40! “The most interesting part of my job is the challenge of integrating past experience with cutting-edge technology. Every project represents a major stride in automotive innovation; I’m proud to contribute to JLR’s unique approach to electrification which involves creating exceptional vehicles that just happen to be electric. As with any development trips with prototype vehicles, challenges are both expected and unexpected, even in the most ‘normal’ conditions. You have to be of a certain mindset to overcome the obstacles you face and ensure the trip is a success.” Discussing misconceptions around EVs, Edward added: “We're all working extremely hard to create a perfect product for the client and for the products to be competitive in market. Naturally not everyone fully understands EV technology. Range anxiety should be temporary in my opinion; once someone purchases an EV and becomes familiar with it, using it on a daily basis with a ‘consistent duty cycle’, they'll soon get used to their car and know what it is capable of.” #JLR #Reimagine #Electrification #Engineering #EngineeringCareers Photo credit: Marc Steinheuer
