About us

Great communication is the beating heart of every successful organisation. But what we intend to say and do and how it's received, isn't always the same thing. Whether it’s a high stakes meeting, an important presentation or giving feedback to your team, it takes courage, clarity and intention. An ILM accredited executive coach and facilitator and member of the EMCC, I help business professionals communicate their vision with clarity and impact, create better relationships and build a thriving culture. I also draw on skills from my acting career, to design and deliver experiential and practical workshops so you and your teams develop and grow your soft skills, by doing. Clients describe me as a great listener, challenging and honest. They include PWC, Clifford Chance, Natural England, the NHS and the John Lewis Partnership. If something's getting in the way of where you want to be, get in touch. E: [email protected] W: www.luftcoaching.com M: 0776 525 4216

A feeling of belonging (and why smart companies are sitting up) Since I was little, like many Jewish families, every Friday night we lit the shabbat candles and paused. I love this tradition and continue it with my family. I’m not very religious but it gives me a sense of belonging in a world where it’s hard to find. Belonging used to be found in lots of places, in the temple, the village, the town square. Now those places are emptier than ever. With the world polarised by politics, intensified by social media, and a blurring of right and wrong, people are searching for belonging, sometimes desperately! Companies who get this are building a proper community at work, a place to celebrate good times, share private challenges and where we're encouraged to bring our whole selves. When we feel like we belong, we work harder and smarter, and stick around for longer! What makes your workplace feel like a real community? #belonging #community #inclusion

  • On my way to work this morning, I overheard a snapshot of a conversation. “I really struggle with those morning meetings. I don’t know what he wants me to do?” I wondered how it must feel to leave a meeting with no idea what’s expected? No direction. No clarity! In a world where busy-ness can be a ‘badge of honour’ we often rush from one meeting to the next without thinking. But at what cost? Before your next Zoom, Teams, phone call or face-to-face, take a breath and ask yourself this simple question. ‘What does this meeting look like when everything goes well?’ #intentionsetting #futurefocus #betteroutcomes

  • 'But' shuts the door. 'And' opens it. I was working with a client on a difficult conversation with a challenging partner. As we rehearsed the interaction, we noticed a tiny word kept tripping us up. In the other person’s shoes, this word made me feel unheard and misunderstood. When we say, ‘I understand but…’ we shut the door, we block the other’s perspective, we dismiss their concern. When we say, ‘I understand and…’ we appreciate their perspective, we invite dialogue, we move forward. The conversation IS the relationship, and a 3 letter word can shape how others feel about us! I'm interested, what’s the smallest change you’ve made that’s had the biggest impact on a relationship or conversation? #acknowledgingothers #buildingdialogue #feelingheard ps, The Simpsons aren't in the leadership handbook, but I couldn't resist! https://lnkd.in/eNm_b2hx

  • Happy to share that I’ve officially earned my ILM Executive Coaching Diploma! A huge shoutout to Management Futures and the brilliant Pippa Gough for her support. It’s been a journey full of great insights that have enriched my coaching practice. Before the world of coaching and facilitating, I was a professional actor, using presence, listening and storytelling to connect with audiences. Now with over 250 hours of executive coaching under my belt, I've adapted those skills to shape my coaching approach, helping clients unlock their potential and drive real change. If you’re at a crossroads in your journey or if you want to change, I'd love to chat. #Growth #Change #Coaching

  • Silence speaks louder!   It’s half-term. For many, no early starts, no school runs, no rushing!   For a week, life slows down, just a little. We exhale, we inhale, we take our time.   But when we speak—especially when it matters— we do the opposite. We rush, we fill every second, nerves take over. And our message? It gets lost.   What if we saw a pause not as an awkward gap, but as an amazing tool? A well-placed pause gives your audience time to think. And it makes you sound more confident! (Here’s the thing, you don’t have to feel confident to look it, years of stage acting taught me that, now I help executives learn the same trick.)   Next time you’re pitching, presenting, or leading a meeting, try these 3 simple steps -   🙊 Pause for 2-3 seconds after a key point and make eye contact with your audience. 🤔 Use a cue phrase like “Let’s take a moment to think about that.” 🎬 Plan your pauses and rehearse until it feels natural.   If this resonates with you and your team, get in touch!   #powerofpause #executivepresence #speakwithconfidence

  • When I used actors to tackle challenging conversations, something unexpected happened. I stopped freezing, I stopped fumbling, I started winning. ‘Practice creates confidence, confidence empowers you.’ Simone Biles. Athletes don’t just ‘think’ about their moves, they take the shot, they miss, they adjust and take it again. But in business? We rehearse challenging conversations in our head. We imagine the ideal response, the ideal reaction and think it’s enough. Then the moment comes, and we miss. What if you could actually practise before it really mattered? In Luft Coaching’s ‘Challenging Conversations’ workshops, leaders step into a safe space and guided by our skilled actor coaches, they practise, they fail better and they succeed. ✅ Try, adapt and try again so you succeed when it counts. ✅ Get real time feedback so you know what works and what doesn’t. ✅ Watch others and learn, because mistakes save us time. 🔵 Listen first. Understand before you reply. 🟡 Better questions = better answers. 🟣 Ownership wins - when we create our own solutions, we properly commit. Rehearsing in your head isn’t enough, start practicing for real! #practice #selfconfidence #bebetter

  • The Conversations That Aren’t Happening! What’s the biggest communication challenge in your company right now? I’m Ben, founder of Luft. A former actor turned ILM executive coach and facilitator, I help ambitious teams communicate with clarity, confidence, and impact. I help teams build trust, make better decisions and create a culture where people thrive. Because great communication is everything. It’s what makes people feel safe to speak up, contribute and innovate. And when it’s missing? Trust fades, ideas aren’t shared and great talent walks away. At Luft, we don’t do passive learning, our workshops - Presenting with Impact, Challenging Conversations and Team Coaching - are hands-on, interactive and provide real-world practice. Teams step into real life scenarios, practice their skills in a safe space and get priceless feedback! "It can be difficult to make courses engaging but Ben took the space, led brilliantly and his insights were invaluable" — Director, EY Thriving workplaces aren’t just productive, they’re inclusive, values driven and a happy place to work!
