A game-changing project ⚽ Our BAE Systems site in Govan is a BIG project with 5720 metres of steel piles installed. That’s almost the same length as 55 football pitches! ♻️ It's Global Recycling Day! ♻️ Our Group Environmental Manager Monika Wojda and Environmental Advisor Elysia Forbes visited East Dunbartonshire Council's Bearsden Primary School today to discuss the history and importance of recycling with two P7 classes. Did you know? 🥫 In the UK we throw away enough aluminium cans each year that they could reach the moon 3 times! 💡 Recycling just one plastic bottle saves enough energy to power a 60W light bulb for six hours! Pupils also took part in arts and crafts, making flowers from recyclable materials. #GlobalRecyclingDay

On St Patrick's Day, we're sure that many pints of Guinness are being raised in celebration, but did you know McLaughlin & Harvey played a part in building the home of the black stuff? ☘️ In 1904, a fermenting house known as the Market Street Storehouse was constructed in Dublin. After its closure in 1988, the storehouse was reopened to the public in 2000 under a new name — Guinness Storehouse at St James’s Gate Brewery. Since then, it has proved to be one of the most popular attractions in Dublin, hosting over 23,000,000 visitors. In 1946, McLaughlin & Harvey continued their collaboration with the world-famous brewery, constructing the Guinness Power House. The facility remained in use until 1993, when a gas-fire CHP plant replaced it. In 2018, the Power House was converted to a whiskey distillery for Roe & Co. #Guinness #StPatricksDay
