This month, many of the conversations myself and my colleagues have had with clients, have touched on the latest expectations for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and what firms should be prioritising. Here’s a quick summary: - The FCA and PRA’s consultation on Diversity & Inclusion (CP23/20) closed in December 2023, with non-financial misconduct (bullying, harassment) as the first area of action. Final rules are expected later this year, followed by broader policy updates. - However, concerns are growing that DEI progress is stalling. Only a small fraction of financial firms report on ethnicity pay gaps whilst cost pressures are leading to cuts in diversity-focused roles. - With increased regulatory scrutiny ahead, firms should proactively review DEI policies and strengthen accountability to stay ahead of regulatory shifts and talent expectations.
