Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) - the Neurodiversity Charity
Non-profit Organizations
An industry forum that seeks to improve the participation of the neurodivergent in the workplace.
About us
Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) is an industry forum that seeks to improve the inclusion of neurodivergent people in the workforce. Led by neurodivergent experts and those with direct experience of neurodiversity from across the business community, NiB works with leading global businesses by sharing best practice. Importantly, those who are actually neurodivergent are key to this organisation to ensure that NiB keeps true to the aims of the neurodivergent community. NiBās mission is to help develop a more inclusive workplace. Whether it is ensuring a better hiring process that does not exclude neurodivergent candidates, to helping identify easy modifications to the workplace environment that can support sustainable employment opportunities. By ensuring a more neurodiverse workforce, businesses are not simply fulfilling some corporate social responsibility programme; they materially and commercially benefit. Those from a neurodivergent background can contribute in meaningful ways to business growth through their single-mindedness, attention to detail, innovative thinking patterns, diligence and creativity. They do however require better support than is currently available ā and that is where NiB can help. We know that businesses are under pressure as never before to do more for the world they operate in. But we also know that by bringing businesses together, this can be addressed effectively and ensure that everyone benefits: businesses; neurodivergent individuals and society at large.

Iām excited to return to London this April to speak at the annual Neurodiversity in Business conference. Hereās whatās top of mind for me: How do we evolve the conversation on neurodiversity at work to ensure organizations fully embrace its value ā especially in times when it can feel harder to find common ground between different perspectives? Lately, Iāve been reflecting deeply on why I do the neurodiversity advocacy work I do, and why I write what I write here on LinkedIn. I realized I feel most hopeful for the future when someone says to me: āIām not autistic, but I could relate to what you said or wrote. And it made me more aware of a part of myself that I hadnāt fully recognized before, but now I see how it connects to my own experiences and struggles.ā Thatās when my heart lights up. Thatās what fuels me to keep going. When we find a moment of shared humanity. For me, championing neuro-inclusion is ultimately not about labels or identities ā although these have their place and importance. Itās about building bridges of understanding between different ways of thinking, working, and being. And I believe we have a better chance of advancing neuro-inclusion in organizations when we approach it with the same focus on cultivating mutual empathy ā across labels and identities. Itās the same philosophy weāve applied to the neurodiversity employee resource group (ERG) I founded and run ā for example, by having a diverse team of neurodivergent and non-neurodivergent colleagues. Navigating this diversity within a team isnāt always easy. But I believe itās vital. It prevents a divisive āus vs. themā narrative, and fosters understanding by encouraging us to bridge differences and find common ground. I, for one, have learned a lot from working with non-neurodivergent colleagues in our ERG, who have challenged us to make our messaging more relatable and relevant for others ā leaders, managers, HR professionals. Ultimately, thatās what allows us to ācollaborate for impact,ā to echo the theme of this yearās Neurodiversity in Business conference. I look forward to sharing the progress weāve made and learning from others. š The Neurodiversity in Business conference will take place in London and online, on April 23, 2025. For more information and ticket options, see: https://lnkd.in/gFD_p-Wg š¤ Iāll be in London in the days surrounding the conference, so feel free to drop me a DM if you see an opportunity to connect or collaborate during the day time before or after the conference (my brain needs evenings alone to recover š ). š³ On that note, do you have tips for a quiet oasis in London away from the hustle and bustle? As a half-Brit, visiting London always feels a bit like coming home, but the intensity of the city can also be overwhelming. Let me know ā Iād appreciate any tips or recommendations! #Neurodiversity Image: an overview of speakers at the upcoming annual Neurodiversity in Business conference on April 23, 2025.

Her story of neurodivergence being treated as a personal failing instead of difference in need of support will resonate with all types of neurodivergent people.
