📲 With digital wallets becoming the preferred way to pay, card schemes have stepped in to provide an alternative solution for online checkouts. Click to Pay is a fast, password-free checkout experience, that allows consumers to complete transactions as effortlessly as they would with an in-store contactless payment method. ➡️ Beyond convenience, Click to Pay delivers significant security advantages through tokenization. Rather than exposing sensitive card details, tokenization replaces them with secure digital tokens, reducing fraud and improving authorisation rates. According to Visa, tokenized payments prevented $650 million in fraud between 2023 and 2024 and contributed to a 3% increase in approval rates for online transactions. For issuers, the benefits extend beyond compliance. 🔐Tokenization strengthens security and improves transaction success rates. It also provides issuers with an opportunity to offer customers greater control over their payment data, allowing them to manage their preferences and permissions within a centralised hub; resulting in a smoother payment experience that fosters loyalty. ‼️ With Click to Pay becoming a mandatory feature, issuers must ensure their cardholders can access this technology without delay. More than just a regulatory requirement, it is a step toward a future where online payments are fast, secure and aligned with modern consumer expectations. Gender diversity in fintech is still far from where it needs to be. A recent study shows that women make up only 7.69% of fintech co-founders and 18.2% of executive committee members—numbers that highlight the urgent need for change. In a recent article in Retail Banker International, Anna Porra our Chief Revenue Officer, reinforces the message that diversity isn’t just a DEI checkbox—it’s a business imperative. Inclusive teams drive better financial products, stronger decision-making, and a more innovative industry. This year’s International Women’s Day theme, "Accelerate Action", is a call for fintechs to step up: 🔵Prioritising fair and proactive hiring practices 🔵 Creating inclusive cultures where diverse voices are valued 🔵 Ensuring leadership is committed to real, measurable change At Paymentology, we believe we can all do more to close the gender gap. 🚨Ecommerce fraud in Mexico is on the rise as fraud attempts targeting merchants surged by 68% in just two months of 2023. As online shopping continues to grow, so do the risks, with fraudsters exploiting vulnerabilities in digital payments. Mexico’s ecommerce market is projected to reach MXN 1.7 trillion ($94.5 billion) by 2028, driven by mobile adoption and social media-fueled shopping. But alongside this growth, cybercriminals are leveraging tactics like card-not-present fraud, phishing scams and chargeback fraud, putting both consumers and merchants at risk. As fraudulent activities become more sophisticated, issuers must step up to secure transactions and protect customers. 🔐 One of the most promising solutions lies in advancing payment security. Numberless cards eliminate the exposure of static card details, reducing the risk of theft. Tokenization replaces card numbers with dynamic, single-use tokens, making stolen data useless. Virtual cards provide added layers of protection by generating unique credentials for specific transactions. Recognising the need for change, Mastercard has committed to eliminating printed card numbers entirely by 2030, a move that redefines payment security. With fraud on the rise, issuers in Mexico have a pivotal role to play. Implementing innovative solutions now will not only protect consumers but also strengthen trust in digital payments. 💡 Learn how issuers can stay ahead of fraudsters in our latest blog and as always don’t forget to subscribe for your weekly dose of PayTech Insights. #ecommerce #fraud #payments #Mexico #issuers #fintech #numberlesscards #tokenization #innovation
