A huge thank you to TCNUK and Rachel Davies for hosting FixMyTek team for an incredible e-waste drive and tech workshop. It was great to be in such a welcoming space, meeting so many people who were not only eager to recycle their old tech responsibly but also genuinely interested in learning about the bigger picture—what happens to their devices after tech become obsolete. This workshop invited The Curious Network (TCN) members to bring in old, unwanted tech for #recycling, ensuring these devices get a second life instead of ending up in landfill. And the response was amazing. 🔄 14 devices collected 🔄 48.2 kg of e-waste diverted from landfill 🔄 3,675 kg of CO₂ emissions prevented To put this into perspective, that’s the same as: ♻️ Preventing emissions from driving 9,000 miles in a petrol car ♻️ Saving the energy needed to power 450,000 smartphones for a year ♻️ Stopping the waste of 22,500 single-use plastic cups And all of this was done in just five hours! Our team was on-site with tools in hand, offering #techadvice, talking about #repairability, and demonstrating how even small actions can make a big difference 🌍💻. We also delved into the importance of properly handling tech—not just to reduce #ewaste, but to unlock its hidden value. Refurbishing old devices benefits the planet by reducing the demand for new materials and can be a smart financial move for businesses (https://lnkd.in/g6RRhmgU). I love working at TCNUK's Temple 1852 offices. I get to hang out with this god of dogs, JamJam. Also sometimes I see Claire Dibben, Jaye Cowle 😊 and Charlie Hunt Difficult to choose who makes me the most happy, tbh. Is that wrong?
