  • Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) has officially launched a public bidding round for oil and gas exploration after a 17-year hiatus. The announcement was made by NOC’s Acting Chairman, Engineer Masoud Suleiman, during a high-profile ceremony attended by Libya’s Prime Minister, H.E. Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, Acting Minister of Oil, Dr. Khalifa Abdel-Sadiq, and the Minister of State for Communication. In his address, Engineer Suleiman emphasized the significance of this milestone, noting that despite Libya’s vast hydrocarbon potential, over two-thirds of its territory remains unexplored. He highlighted that this initiative is not only aimed at increasing oil and gas production but also at stimulating economic growth, fostering private sector participation, and creating new job opportunities for Libyan youth. "The return of major oil companies to exploration activities in Libya will strengthen the country's position among global oil producers and contribute to increasing its proven reserves," Suleiman stated. He added that this would support Libya’s long-term energy strategy and boost national income. During the ceremony, a dedicated committee presented a detailed technical briefing outlining the bidding process, eligibility criteria, and technical specifications for interested companies. The NOC aims to attract international and regional investors to revitalize Libya’s energy sector, unlock new resources, and enhance production capacity. This exploration round marks a critical step in Libya’s efforts to restore its oil and gas industry to pre-crisis levels, signaling renewed confidence in the sector’s stability and growth potential.
