The first look into the CMA findings should concern all those operating in cloud. In my eyes, the cloud industry is broken if businesses consider high egress fees ‘a price worth paying’ if they want to achieve their cloud strategy. This shouldn’t be an accepted status quo in the cloud space, and it definitely shouldn’t be an accepted way to reach a strategy ‘that makes most sense for their business’. Cloud should be flexible, affordable and support business growth. But currently, the hyperscalers are operating in a way that benefits them and their bottom line instead of their customers’ needs. Challenger cloud providers are leading the charge and putting their customers first, without the need to rely on anti-competitive and harmful practices, and it’s time Big Tech followed suit. The CMA investigation is an opportunity to forge a more competitive UK cloud market. When the CMA comes to make its final decision, I hope they will not waste this opportunity and take decisive action across the board, from ending the scourge of egress fees to service structures that disincentivize switching providers. Thrilled to be featured by ChannelE2E's recent article about AI. It focuses on how MSPs can find opportunity in AI with their customers. Here are my simplified 5 steps for MSPs interested in getting into the AI business. (In order) 1. Adopt AI internally within the MSP to understand its capabilities. 2. Train your staff on AI principles and prompt engineering. 3. Assess risks of inaction by identifying unauthorized AI tool use within customer networks. 4. Position yourself as a thought leader in AI and engage with customers regularly on AI possibilities. 5. Demonstrate AI's value through strategic, incremental deployments focusing on accessible use cases. I do not recommend jumping to step 5 :)
