Cloudcat Recruitment's series on common mistakes made by SDRs continues. Every mistake listed is one to keep in mind, as they have been suggest by highly successful SDRs and Sales Leaders who I have spoken to over the last few years. Using AI is great, and mastering its usage makes you extremely efficient. The majority of my network is involved in selling or utilising artificial intelligence! But using it blindly is akin to trying to sell to a prospect in a monotonous, under-researched and dry tone. Over-use and brazen use of AI messaging can come across as lazy, unoriginal and most importantly: It does not signify that the seller is a solution-led individual, who wishes to solve a problem. #SDR #salesdevelopmentrepresentative #artificialintelligence

Recruitment 1.0. 1️⃣ High volume, low skilled - high hassle, low value, low loyalty. 1️⃣ Increasingly complex regulatory landscape (more so with UK Employment Rights Bill coming down the track). 1️⃣ Resource hungry - forcing the business's hand on overheads, non-value add costs. Lose/lose/lose dynamics: 👎🏼 Lose for Workers - poor quality jobs, with transactional hiring companies that demand everything - give little. 👎🏼 Lose for employers - unable to attract productive, safe, coachable, high calibre people - aligned on values. 👎🏼 Lose for 1.0 recruiters - diminishing return, 24/7 headache, pollutes the brand, unsustainable race to the bottom. Being a 'Specialist Recruiter' is not a new concept, everyone has a niche now. But, if you genuinely know the space you support.....and can build trust and credibility in your market over the phone - why not do that at scale? I spoke to a client last month who had 27,000 1st connections specific to the market they support struggling for new client relationships. What was their BD strategy? Over a month emailing a list of 2500 cold contacts from ZoomInfo using a 4 stage email campaign....you know the ones. Responses so far....Zero. What were they doing on LinkedIn to engage what is a fairly hefty audience....nothing........in fact they had never posted anything, ever. Based on user stats over 20,000 of that same Recruiters connections visit LinkedIn at least once a week for 7.5 minutes on average. You can communicate with them everyday through content. And they come voluntarily - Its a completely different communication strategy . If they spent some time talking about whats happening in their market right now....building some credibility and trust they could reach 8x more than the cold list off of ZoomInfo in a shorter period. If only 1% of that audience ask the recruiter for help thats 200 enquiries a week! So again.... if you rate yourself in your niche. Why are you waiting for that connected call, or email response to give yourself the chance of standing out?

In Q2 of this year in the UK the average Perm Consultant made 4 placements and the average Temp Consultant made 6 placements. (UK) When we looked at the consultants at the Top 5 agencies on Recruiter Insider for Candidate Experience, we discovered that: 🚀 the average Perm Consultant there made 5 placements 🚀 the average Temp Consultant made 10 placements. In Q2 alone, the agencies with the highest candidate experience scores made 1 extra Perm placement per consultant and an 4 extra temp placements per consultant. Highlighting as always the impact candidate experience has on your placement numbers. The data doesn’t lie, an improved candidate experience means more placements. 'Can we talk about the economic state of UK staffing right now?' This UK recruitment downturn looks set to last 📉 "Net income fee is down YoY 14% Robert Walters, 15% Hays and 16.7% Page Group. Forecasts have been declining all year. Share prices have been heading broadly south since the post-Covid-19 hiring bulge." If costs stays the same, profit drops. Which could mean big redundancies in the market. You need a lower cost of carry whilst driving revenue. 💷 Instead of periods of large hiring and firing companies should seek to improve efficiency. Companies should look at strategies to improve data 📊 Better data can improve search results, which can reduce time to hire and job advertising spend. It can improve marketing and new business efforts as well as ability to leverage third parties and AI to drive more revenue. Finally, it's important for effective reporting and analytics. Which can lead to improved decision making and scalable growth. To improve data you need the right CRM, user adoption strategy and validation processes. You need it to be tailored to your service offerings and verticals. You need it to reinforce your proven processes that make your business successful. How are you improving your data?

Tech Folk. The best way to find a new job. Take a cursory look at your inmails from recruiters. Choose the best three based on their relevance to your actual skills/interest and how much the recruiter seems to understand the market Call them, ask who their clients are (are they companies you’re interested in?) If so, build a passive relationship, tell them what companies/roles would interest you and you would want to see moving forwards. B2B sales = where the progression and reward is as a salesperson If you’re serious about your sales career then you’ll need this experience. Particularly if you want to break into tech sales. If you have any cold outreach, prospecting or outbound calling on your CV from a B2B environment then use it. That’s transferable. And if you don’t, then it might be worth considering other B2B sales roles as a stepping stone. Sometimes it’s better to earn and learn. I see you 👀 Noticing more and more recruiters being “open to work” in a particular market (let’s use GTM as an example) that only seem to be using it as a ploy to get some potential new client info on who’s hiring in their market… Come on lads and lasses, we can do better than that. Yes times are tougher than usual but it’s a big wide world out there full of opportunities. Why not put some effort into engaging potential new businesses directly with an awesome cold call, or we’ll put together personalised (and bloody relevant) email as part of a sequence including video and voicenotes.
