Are you #OpentoWork ? Have you been put off having the "Open to Work" banner on your profile because of what pseudo experts, that have never worked in recruitment, said in a post? I have seen a number of posts and reposts of so called experts creating click bait by saying the Open to Work banner is desperate. The Open to Work Banner was created by LinkedIn to help people that want a job to be seen, the same as #Hiring is used by employers to let people know they are hiring. Recruiters want to be able to find the people that are open to a new job. If you don't use the Open to Work Banner, our clients struggle to fill their vacancies and you struggle to get that great job we want to talk to you about. #LinkedIn was originally created to help people find a job through online networking, don't be put off by Social Media Guru that don't have a clue about recruitment. If you are unsure about your job search, talk to a recruiter, we are the experts after all.

Demand for Intermediate-level Software Developers is decreasing, resulting in salary levels on offer declining. For the time being it appears that the days of intermediate developers securing 15% - 20% pay increases when moving jobs are over.   Current advertised salaries for software developers in the UK (3 months to June 2024) are down to 2019 levels.   Is this trend mirrored elsewhere in the world? What are the causes for this?

Quality over Quantity 🚀 I've noticed a trend recently from our partners on how they are struggling with Engineering recruitment, especially DevOps and Cloud Engineering. This being due to profiles not being relevant to the specifics of the role and high volume of CV's being sent because they have "Buzz words". Recently enough, I was helping one of our new partners look for a Senior Platform Engineer as they had struggled to get the right candidate. They had over 15 profiles sent across and conducted 8 interviews but none were right. After a great call with the Engineering Manager, I sent 3 great Engineers who fit the bill on all fronts. 5 myths about senior hiring.. 1- ATS / Bots are filtering CVs and blocking my application (Humans review CVs) 2 - A CV over 2-pages long is bad (No one has ever been ruled out for having a 3-page CV) 3 - I get loads of rejections from applying as I'm bad (EVERYONE gets rejections, applying is like buying a lotto ticket) 4 - Hiring Managers read cover letters (Unlikely, they're too busy) 5 - If a sales person can't sell themselves on paper (CV), they're bad (False, selling yourself is a different skill set) 🔥 It's good to research the background of those giving advice.. The biggest mistake you’ll make in recruitment: Ignoring tech adoption. Many agencies have Bullhorn Automation. But they aren’t using it effectively. These 5 things change everything: 1. Audit current processes and identify bottlenecks 2. Invest in expert advice to optimise your CRM 3. Train recruiters on automated tools and processes 4. Implement targeted automation to reduce busywork 5. Monitor and adjust based on real data Automation isn’t just about: - Hiring efficiency - Enhancing the candidate/client experience - Improving data health Sure, they’re important. I couldn't get more of an ick from people on LinkedIn telling recruitment agencies that implementing automation is quick and easy... despite most agencies' biggest problem being that they spend months struggling to get automation working without a proper strategy. If you want successful automation: - Accept it's not a quick fix - Invest in proper strategy first - Build revenue-focused workflows Skip the "quick and easy" automation.
