Starting 6 April 2025, UK employers will see higher costs due to adjustments in National Insurance rates and wage regulations. The National Minimum Wage will also increase for over-21s, intensifying financial strain on sectors with high staffing needs. Although smaller businesses will benefit from an increase in Employment Allowance, most larger employers will still experience substantial cost hikes. This year....We have decided to do January differently! 😊 Every January we get lots of enquiries for Self Assessments with the deadline date of 31st January. As of 19th December 2024, we won’t be taking on any more new clients for tax year 2023/2024. The deadline is simply too close, and we want to ensure we provide the highest quality service for all our existing clients. US Alignment. Big business investment. Not sure I would choose China and Govt spending above UK citizens. SImilarly China and EU are shrinking. US continues to grow. I know lets align with the EU! Politial Dogma is so devisive.

Digital platforms (like Just Eat, Airbnb, eBay, etc) will need to share sellers 2024 sales data to HMRC by 31/01/2025. If you have at least 30 sales or earned roughly £1,700 (equivalent to €2,000), your platform provider will let you know that your sales information has been shared with HMRC. The sharing of sales data does not automatically mean you need to complete a tax return, e.g. if you are just getting rid of a few old or unwanted clothes or children's toys that have accumulated over the years. It will be interesting to see if HMRC send a "one to many" letter to online sellers with discrepancies, e.g. those sellers with lots of sales income as per the digital platform but are not-declaring/under-declaring income with HMRC. HMRC will soon be able to clearly see how much online sellers are actually earning. Article in the comments.
