Big changes coming on 1st October The Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023 comes into force and big changes for SMB employers in #hospitality and #salons In summary... - 100% of tips and service charge must be allocated to staff members - Tips must be paid in full to employees no later than the end of the next calendar month - Records of tips’ allocations must be retained for 3 years, and employees may request their personal tips statement - It will no longer be legal to alter an employee’s regular wage (hourly rate or salary) in return for a share of tips Check out the latest Slick blog for more guidance and how Slick can help you stay compliant at no extra cost! #tipping #salon #salonowner #tipact #saas #fintech

Every Friday, we post our weekly wins in a Slack channel called Snap Cups 🤌 (If you’ve seen Legally Blonde 2, you’ll know the reference! If you haven’t, Snap Cups are a fun way of showing appreciation of a team’s achievements. Our weekly wins are shared and after each one we snap our fingers 🤌 🤌 🤌) People in a recognition-focussed company are 5x more likely to feel valued, 7x more likely to stay, and 11x more likely to feel satisfied. Seeing these weekly wins in our channel is one of the highlights of my week. And 99% of the time, our weeks look like this. But a little dose of reality - Yesterday, we noticed that something had gone wrong in one of our campaigns. We had overspent on a campaign for an event that should have been paused. But in less than 24 hours the client was called, made aware of what had happened and a credit note was raised on their account for the amount of the overspend to come off the management fee in their next invoice. All sorted and dealt with in less than a day. Lessons learned. And our client was very understanding. They said: “Sh**t happens, everyone makes mistakes. It’s how we deal with them that’s important and you’ve handled it in the right way.” The clients are happy with how the team handled the situation that had the potential to spin out of control. No humans are perfect 100% of the time. But if we can learn from our mistakes, then we come back better and stronger. There’s a reason why athletes beat their PB after a drop in performance. And I believe that if we didn’t have a recognition-focussed company where the team are routinely acknowledged for their achievements we wouldn’t have built the trust and resilience needed to handle this challenge efficiently together. Building a culture of recognition not only celebrates your wins but also strengthens your ability to bounce back from setbacks. You win and lose as a team.
