💚 We are one of the first wealth managers to announce plans to adopt the FCA’s Sustainability Disclosure Requirements (SDR) label. 💚 Our Charity Sustainable Multi-Asset Fund plans to adopt the ‘Sustainability Focus’ label. 🤩 What does this mean for our clients? 🤩 The planned adoption of the label is intended to give our clients confidence in the integrity and robustness of our sustainable investment approach, and commitment to managing investments in line with their values. Investment funds may adopt one of four labels under SDR, which aims to improve the trust and transparency of sustainable investment and minimise the risk of greenwashing. A labelled fund must have a sustainability objective that is clear, specific and measurable using key performance indicators. 🌲 The ‘Sustainability Focus’ label requires a minimum of 70% of the assets within the fund to contribute to a sustainability objective, and no assets can be held that conflict with the sustainability objective. We believe these stringent requirements represent best practice for sustainable investing. 🌲 You can read more here:

What a letter The Financial Times from Mark Tennant (I think!) on investment trusts' role in contributing to the UK's wealth! "Investment trusts have three main advantages over their open-ended competitors: first, they can gear; second, they are not subject to portfolio wrecking when markets turn and investors flee; but most importantly they are closed-end funds and are therefore natural vehicles for investors wishing to include illiquid assets in their portfolio. On Wednesday 29th January, I’ll be speaking at the The Investment Association's 2025 Stewardship & Corporate Governance Forum, where I will be sharing my personal reflections on the evolution of stewardship from my 24+ years of working in this important and essential investment discipline. I have always considered it a privilege to work in stewardship because we are, ultimately, acting on behalf of other people with their money. I’ll be explaining more as to my thinking on this, including what needs to be done for stewardship to reach its full potential across global capital markets and the vital role that asset owners play in this regard. The event could not be more timely as we approach an important juncture for the UK Financial Reporting Council's UK Stewardship Code, with the current consultation closing for responses on Wednesday 19th February 2025. In The Times today the top performing investment trusts of 2024 are analysed by patrick hosking. The top performer was Petershill Partners PLC which returned 71.3%, followed by amedeo air four plus which produced a return of 60% and Seraphim Space which generated a 58.1% return. Baillie Gifford US Growth Trust PLC, was the fourth best performer, having delivered a 56% return and 3i Group plc with a 50.1% return was also mentioned. Patrick also discusses the trusts which performed poorly last year. Generally the investment trust sector performed well producing a 13% return over the year according to The Association of Investment Companies (AIC).
